He has asked me if I would record it for him so that he can watch it in the mornings/after school.

This is unsuitable viewing for a 10 yr old yes ?

why do you think it is unsuitable?

Totally inappropriate.

HollyBerryBush · 04/01/2013 13:19

By rule of thumb, if its on when he's in bed, he's too young to watch it!

Although I have to say even though he is 10, next year when he's a secondary school, the TV in the canteen will have the round up showing Hmm

QOD · 04/01/2013 13:19

The only thing I would say is that there is usually a suitable ish version on in the day, so tonight's is on tomorrow. It's edited so sexual innuendo and swearing are out, as is aggressive behaviour.
Dd was allowed to watch it that way from big school, so at 11

eleflump · 04/01/2013 13:19

I had this with my eleven year-old during the last series - he wanted to watch it because everyone at school was watching it and talking about it.

Ended up compromising and sky-plussing the repeat that they show at lunchtime the day after each show, as the unsuitable language and so on is removed. He lost interest after about four days anyway!

ThePlEWhoLovedMe · 04/01/2013 13:25

Squeaky one of the 'contestants' used a wine bottle to masturbate with !! - fab idea about recording the day time version though - maybe that will be a good compromise (he is still in yr 5 at school - if that makes any difference)

I dont think that was on the celebrity version OP..

TheMonster · 04/01/2013 13:29

I really like BB but I don't think it is suitable for a ten year old.

cinnamonnut · 04/01/2013 13:30

YANBU it's utter tripe anyway

QOD · 04/01/2013 13:35

Record the day one, to be honest its all peer pressure and the celebs are such no bodies that he will probably loose interest

BoffinMum · 04/01/2013 13:41

Yes, you are perfectly entitled to put your foot down at anything you think is unsuitable, and I would even discourage my 15 year old from watching it, to be perfectly frank.

ThePlEWhoLovedMe · 04/01/2013 13:42

hmmm Squeaky I think you are right but the celeb one has had its fair share of unsuitable behaviour for a 10 yr old ?

I just think, innuendo aside, it gives a very depressing view of the world. it was the stereotypical glamour model playing up to the "I'm fick I am" , the obligatory oerson who slept with Simon Cowell, and usually rows, tits and a mental breakdown.

I agree the afternoon show is a good compromise. FWIW I let my 6yo watch bits of I'm A Celebrity. I SkyPlussed it and showed him the bushtucker trials, which he loved. Now THAT's a good show!

So YANBU OP.

BackforGood · 04/01/2013 14:07

Of course YANBU.
It's called 'parenting'.
