To think that watching TV with a wakeful child at 2 am is just foolish?

I see this occassionaly on friends' FB pages. No SN involved, but child might be poorly. DD has asked for Peppa Pig in the middle of the night when ill, but we declined. Have I just never been in the situation when it is the right answer and until I experience that situation I am just being judgy?

The reason I posted the word 'Retard' was because that is waht I was told I was doing to my child by a well meaning relative. In fact it was something along the lines of ''You'll tunr him into a retard just like you' ( I have dyslexia, dyspraxia, epilepsy and am colour blind).
I dont find retard nearly as offensive as other words mentioned (nigger and paki was said) or cunt for that matter and that is alway one here.

MNers go mental over that word though, it's just too toxic to use here, in any context.

I've done it.... it was the quietest option in a very small flat when DH needed to sleep and DD1 was poorly/unsettled.

This would be a last last last resort for me. DS is 6 and i've never done it yet. Perhaps if he was very ill and usually slept well otherwise i would allow it for one night if i thought it might settle him down. But really i think sleep is the best thing when you're ill.
I think it could turn into a slippery slope, but only if you're a big pushover!
