Sorry if this is a stupid or inappropriate question, but i've just seen a couple of threads deleted apparently because they were troll threads. How to MNHQ or regular MNers know if someone is trolling?

I just have one niggle about this thread.... Bruffin says that trolls are "attention seekers".... But ain't we all? Isnt the point of posting a thread or replying to a thread, garnering attention for yourself? Do all posters post nobly into a vacuum assuming that no attention will come their way? I always have difficulty getting my head around the difference between "acceptable" and "unacceptable" attention seeking. All seems the same thing to me and not morally reprehensible.

I can see the hovererers on my iPad. Maybe it's because I don't use the iPad app?

Using an iPad2 and Safari, I can see the "hoverers" by touching a name once. Dunno about the app...

I like the fact that MNHQ are now stating why a thread has been deleted rather than it just vanishing.

I have an inbuilt troll detector. I suspect it's as a result of spending way too much time on the internet but I just know.
