To stay in rather than go down the pub?

We are supposed to be going out to meet a group of friends, and have tickets for our local pub (£5 each)
But DH cooked am amazing meal, and I am now relaxing on the sofa with a glass of red, and the thought of heading out in the cold to force a way to the bar and talk with drunk people is not fun.

To head out or not?

I never go out NYE any more. YANBU, but let DH go out if he wants to.

delilahbelle · 31/12/2012 20:54

DH has just lit the fire and does not want to head out either :) Cosy night in it is.

YANBU. I'm watching Corrie with my Nan Grin

FoxtrotFoxtrotSierra · 31/12/2012 20:56

We're staying in too. Glass of red and BBC3 Greatest Olympic Moments is far more fun than a rammed pub!

digerd · 31/12/2012 20:59

Can't be bothered to get dressed up etc and go out to a noisy pub. Love my peace and quiet and relaxing in home comforts.

LineRunner · 31/12/2012 21:01

Will your friends miss you? If not, stay home.

ArbitraryUsername · 31/12/2012 21:01

We went out and are already back home. Saw some fireworks and a parade, them had some food. All done by 8.

In my pjs, the dcs are asleep (and healthy!) beer in hand.
Its been the longest year of my life and this is the nicest way to spend NYE with my family.

BoneyBackJefferson · 31/12/2012 21:22

As long as you let them know. YANBU

We took our 6yr old ds out for dinner, we were back by 8.45 and are now settled on the sofa watching crap comedians talking about 2012. The intention is for ds to stay up til midnight but he's never managed past 10 before so he may not make it!! I'm perfectly happy

Hulababy · 31/12/2012 21:30

We tend to go out for an early meal out, sometimes with friends, then head home about half past 8 and curl up with TV/iPad, drink and chocolate. Whether we stay up til midnight is always hit and miss.

A heaving standing room only pub/bar is not for me.

Lorialet · 31/12/2012 21:34

We are staying in too. Popped in the pub earlier when we took the dog out, and now we are about to eat DP's speciality Thai beef salad washed down with plenty of wine. I just can't be bothered with crowded bars full of loud, drunken arseholes any more.

Happy New Year everyone :)

YANBU. I think going out on NYE is going out of fashion as almost everyone I know is saying they don't want to bother, they'd rather stay in, it's too noisy/expensive/cold etc.

Don't get me wrong, there will always be thousands who want to go to Trafalgar Square etc, but for everyone who does, I know ten people who wouldn't.

Bah humbug!

My idea of NYE heaven is a warm night in, hot cup of tea and a takeaway with DH once the kids are in bed. Bliss.

OscarPistoriusBitontheside · 01/01/2013 00:33

We drive bak from the south west to the north west today so Jammies on and glass of champagne it was. We nipped outside at midnight to see the fireworks but that's as exciting as our night got. Smile

Yay, NYE stay-inner thread.
Warm, comfortable, drinks that you actually like and clean loo. No brainer really.

Yep- no queues for the bar, no staying up later than you want to because you have to share a cab back, clean loos, central heating and you can stay in your pyjamas.
