Went to see The Life of Pi this afternoon. Good film but my enjoyment was marred by the woman sitting beside me as her four year kept asking loud questions, which his mother answered. She sometimes even pointed things out to him which stimulated even more why questions. Not once did she shoosh him or ask him to lower his voice.
I was with DS2, who has a horror of confrontation, so didn't speak to her directly, just made eye contact with the little boy and put my finger to my lips a few times. I eventually did a loud, passive aggressive sigh and she then answered his loud questions in a slightly quieter voice.
I don't get it, since when did it become acceptable to speak over films?
Do some people think its bad for children not to answer questions immediately?
We always have a good discussion in the car on the way home, young brains seem to have no problem remembering the plot.
