I have no idea who just gobbledegooked on my post.

I don't like drinking old things out of a cup/mug. And I don't like cups with a coloured inside. But I could easily drink a hot clear drink from a mug. Like herbal tea or lemsip.

What would be a hot clear drink? Ymean hot water?

I'm not convinced any of my glasses are heat proof so I serve all hot drinks from a mug. Don't see what difference it makes if the liquid is clear or opaque. Cold drinks glasses, hot drinks mugs or cups in our house

How do you feel about lattes in clear glsses?

They are hot but not clear.

Still trying to think of hot clear drinks other than lemsip!

Several members of my family take tea without milk and like it weak. They still get it in a cup or mug. My husband likes hot squash when unwell, but gets that in a mug as well.
If it's a glass you haven't got a handle so are more likely to burn yourself or spill it, especially if unwell and a bit weak and shaky.

I like hot layered drinks in a clear glass, i.e. a properly made Irish coffee.

YABU. Fruit tea and hot toddy are both examples of things I serve in mugs.

Do you have glasses with handles? I don't. What about those glass mugs - got any of them? Or the ones that are a glass, but with a plastic holder to give them a handle? I don't have those either.

I surety sure as sureness am not putting hot clear drinks in a wine glass so I can hold it by the stem. That is not steamy comfort. That's "pay attention, you might tipple this wine glass."

I prevarication over teh neediness of glass for powsh coffee.

But I am unyielding re clear drinks.

I agree gaelic coffee is nicer in the special glasses you get for gaelic coffees with small handles. I don't have any of these though.

I did drink some from a mug earlier in the week, and DH accused me off trying to hide the fact that I was drinking alcohol.

Mostly glass mugs are wrong.

I think the only exception is Irish coffee, where you float the cream on the top, but I think they went out of fashion in 1992.

for herb/ fruit tea = mug is fine
for irish coffee = nice if you have one of the glasses, so you can see the cloudy swirly layeryness of the cream

i think a glass gives more sense of occasion if it is a super nice drink.

I drink Earl Grey - no milk - always a mug. Always the tall special mug i really love and which i would never drink coffee from. Clear glasses for mulled wine.

Goblets for mulled wine, makes me feel like I'm in the middle ages a la Game of Thrones with no risk of crawling round the kitchen picking up pieces of heat shattered glass when pissed.

Um - sometimes yes, a glass is visually pleasing for a hot clear drink such as a hot toddy, but not a fruit tea or similar, and it needs a handle, or it gets too hot to hold. It's usually mugs in our house.

Yes, hot clear drinks=glass with metal holdy thing. Tastes better. In the same way as I drink water etc from a glass not a mug. But then I also like hot chocolate in a glass with cream and marshmallows.
