Yes. They are.

They need their new things bagging up and taking down to the charity shop.

A shock is what's needed there, I think. Who the hell do they think they are?

LineRunner · 25/12/2012 15:30

I can't get on that page.

Could you cut and paste some? Please. Oh please.

CatchingMockingbirds · 25/12/2012 15:33

I read a few and then had to stop as they were all so awful, hopefully they're kidding though.

noisytoys · 25/12/2012 15:34

That is shocking Hmm

Crikey.

Maybe they should put some of their awesome communicative talents to good use and run a bloody Swap Shop?

Or will their mums have to do that as well?

Coz like none of us ever spouted rubbish like that when were teens, no sirree. We all woz grateful for our bags of coal, we woz.

VivaLeBeaver · 25/12/2012 16:00

My dd is only 11 and I could tell she was a bit disappointed she didn't get any hexbug stuff (she only asked for some a few days ao and it was too late). But she's been so good, says she loves everything she did get and making a bit effort not to look crestfallen when she realised.

But gave it away by asking if she'll get any hexbug stuff for her birthday in a few weeks!

The secondary thing i am taking away from those tweets - after 'oh my god what ungrateful kids' is 'people who covet apple products are bastards!' Grin

HECTheHallsWithRowsAndFolly · 25/12/2012 16:23

Oh many did, I am sure, ll. I agree with you.

And I am sure that they were seen by their elders exactly as we now are seeing this bunch of ungrateful buggers!

comedycentral · 25/12/2012 16:28

They are coming across as very spoilt and entitled. Imagine reading that as a parent? I would be gutted :-(

froggies · 25/12/2012 16:30

Golly makes me relieved that the onily negative I got was dd1 (7) being sad that the cat didn't get the hideously expensive climbing toy she asked for on it's behalf. Even DS (16) was totally calm about the electronic guitar tuner that doesn't bloody work.
Hope they are still that nice when they hit late teens/early twenties.

Narnia34 · 25/12/2012 16:32

I covet Apple things, we can't afford them, so my coveting is done through drool covered windows at the Apple shop.

Should any of those darling children be able to remove capita from rectum for long enough, maybe they could post these unwanted items to me?

Ungrateful little shits!

quirrelquarrel · 25/12/2012 17:34

Don't know why kids get techy stuff.
It's for adults. I don't even see the appeal of them, but if it's a toy for anyone, it's for people who've earnt the right to make their own choices and can choose how to handle the way they approach new things.
We don't know if it's really harmful to their developing minds- even if it's not, I don't see why they need them when they could be so happy with smaller things. Adults naturally get more blase and take things more for granted, and doesn't everyone which they could be like a kid and find the smallest things stimulating? Why start the detachment younger every year? Of course something that lights up and takes no concentration will be more appealing than a simple non-electronic toy- doesn't mean it's suitable if you want to raise a certain kind of kid- i.e. not spoilt. And kids with all the tech might not act bratty, but they will still take it for granted and their expectations for entertainment will be so high when they could enjoy soo many more things.

Grr.

quirrelquarrel · 25/12/2012 17:37

*doesn't everyone wish

HairyGrotter · 25/12/2012 17:43

I blame the parents, if I'm honest! What a poor show for the future. Urgh

Narked · 25/12/2012 17:46

'Don't know why kids get techy stuff.'

Yes. Because all they should need is a stick, a ball and their imagination Hmm

PretzelTime · 25/12/2012 18:01

I like your post quirrelquarrel. Techy stuff have been made for, and/or marketed towards, kids for a long time now though.

GalaxyDefender · 25/12/2012 18:15

WTAF.
When I was their age I was happy with anything I got tbh. Certainly wouldn't have expected my parents to buy me big ticket electronics - those were strictly family presents.

It's clearly something to do with Apple. I knew there was a reason to avoid their overpriced crap, it clearly brainwashes young children Grin

CatchingMockingbirds · 25/12/2012 18:26

quirrell these are teenagers.

dementedma · 25/12/2012 19:37

Pleased to say my teens were all suitably delighted with their gifts, and thanked us profusely. The neighbour who popped in with a box of wine gums for them was equally thanked and hugged for his gift. Just sometimes, I allow myself to think I raised those kids OK.....

TheNebulousBoojum · 25/12/2012 19:52

Mine know that they can ask for techie stuff up to a price limit, and then they need to get a job and fund it themselves.
I agree that greedy and selfish teenagers have been around for several thousand years, the difference is that most parents didn't feel guilty about it. They seem to now, and to worry about their child not having what everyone else claims to have.
