I love cheese :)

White stilton with apricots is my favourite.

AgentZigzagHasABigYuleLog · 24/12/2012 16:25

YWVU, your poor, poor family Sad

Grin

Do The Posh put picked onions in their cheese then?

How odd.

FeelingFestiveCheerMum · 24/12/2012 16:28

Dd still has her lump of oaky smoked cheddar but my pickled onion one did not last long at all. Must make sure to buy two next year.

( luckily I bought more than one bottle of festive sherry!)

It's ok for you to have eaten the cheese. It's Christmas Eve. This is one of the days that special Christmas food is for!

oldraver · 24/12/2012 16:33

We have human mice in our house... they scoff cheese and other goodies. They especially like cheese and cranberry sauce

HousewifefromBethlehem · 24/12/2012 16:37

I'm starting on mine later!!

Have

Wensleydale cranberries
Brie
Camembert
Long clawson
Double Gloucester onion chives
Boursin
Boursin with fig

Although someone on here told me the fig one was yucky. Hope she was lying!!

FeelingFestiveCheerMum · 24/12/2012 16:42

Om Nom Nom, what a lovely list, yummmmmmmmmy

FeelingFestive where did you buy your cheese, please?

FeelingFestiveCheerMum · 24/12/2012 16:47

Tesco! (So, okay, maybe not REALLY posh but better than our normal value cheddar)

AmandinePoulain · 24/12/2012 16:48

housewife fear not? Boursin with figs is bloomin lush Grin

We started our cheese at lunchtime. We have Rondele (I was so excited that they've started selling it over hereGrin), Camembert for dh, double Gloucester for dd, Red Devil for me and a lovely Spanish hard cheese with an orange rind that I've forgotten the name of. Plus posh crisps! (Only Jacobs cream crackers though - that's what Tescos considered to be a suitable substitute for the Finest biscuits for cheese I ordered Hmm)

lycisca · 24/12/2012 17:06

I went a bit mad on the cheese front, at Mellis in Edinburgh: Stilton, Gorgonzola, Ardrahan, Ossau Iraty and Tomme Marc de Raisin. Just exactly when and by whom all this is going to be eaten I'm not quite sure. I am in fact slightly alarmed by all the cheesage Shock

FurryDogMother · 24/12/2012 19:24

Much cheese here :) The only Stilton I could track down was a HUGE lump for ?7.99 in Tesco, plus a nice runny Camembert, Ardrahan -lycisca glad someone else eats it! - seriously mature cheddar for DH, Jarlsberg, Emmental and, I think, a bit of Gruyere. I wish I was hungry!

TaggieCrimbleBlack · 24/12/2012 19:27

I spent £18 on cheese.

I got

Brie
Mexican (i know but i like it)
Wenslydale with cranberries
Stilton
Summut green, maybe sage or onion
Goat
And....

A whole Edam!

I am in cheese heaven.

VivaLeBeaver · 24/12/2012 19:30

Morrisons also do cheddar with pickled onion in it, it's lovely.

CaliforniaSucksSnowballs · 24/12/2012 19:43

Good cheese hiding at the back of the fridge, Grin Now I know what I want to snack on!

catgirl1976geesealaying · 24/12/2012 19:47

I have

Stilton
Brie
Camenbert
Blacksticks Blue

May start on it now......

ZebraInHiding · 24/12/2012 19:51

We git two cheese packs purely so I could crack it open tonight guilt free!

IslandMoose · 24/12/2012 19:52

Mmmmmm cheese! We have good cheddar, goat cheese, saint agur and a vacherin mont d'or for baking and dipping. Am going to have to give myself a good talking to so as not to start on it tonight!

NaokHoHoHo · 24/12/2012 19:59

I've been very good so far, most of the cheese is still untouched. Which is good, as it's meant to be dinner on Boxing Day. Just a massive cheeseboard, warm crusty bread, crackers, maybe some salmon and pate if there's any left from Christmas day. I realised I won't want to do any actual cooking so invested a fortune in cheese instead.

Bingdweller · 24/12/2012 20:01

YABU. The nicest cheese in the whole wide world without a doubt is Cornish Cruncher with Diablo Chilli from M&S. it's bloody gorgeous, specially with red onion chutney. Mmmmmmmmm.

BillyBollyBrandy · 24/12/2012 20:03

That's 2 threads I've seen you have cheese envy on sole Grin

DontCallMeBaby · 24/12/2012 20:07

For some reason the nice looking baguette stayed in the kitchen here, in favour of cream sodding crackers. I swear my in-laws are trying to destroy me.

Plus there was what looked like Wensleydale with cranberries but turned out to be some sort of mince pie flavour cheese - I THINK it was the work of the devil, but not entirely sure. Will have to check tomorrow.

I hate myself.

wonkylegs · 24/12/2012 20:07

We started our cheese on Friday but we had serious cheese reserves:
A 2kg 'baby' colston bassett Stilton
A massive wedge of Shropshire blue
A massive wedge of Yorkshire blue
Roquefort
A Lord London 'booby' cheese
Cornish blue
A mature cheddar - can't remember the name
A round of Camembert
A quarter round of Brie
Wensleydale
A soft goats cheese
And some red rubber mild thing that SIL brought that she insists is cheese ... I insist it's not!

I love cheese more than almost anything else in the world and can easily spend upwards of £20 a time at my local cheesemonger every fortnight (I am by no means rich) but I don't understand the point of cheese with things like chives or fruit or chilli in it. Vile! Cheese should taste of itself, not faddy additives.
