To want to hide in my room with a book

The last 6 weeks have been really pretty tough, exp has been a complete arse and the fall out is likely to go on for ages, the details though are a complete other thread.

Normally I can do patient and understanding, but I have a cold, a sore head and a cough, and I stayed up too late last night working on all the college stuff.

The Christmas mentalness has descended on DD's (4&7) who are behaving like spoiled brats on top of the clingyness and struggling to sleep as a result of ExP's twattishness, DS (16) has decided that he hates us all almost as much as he hates exp, he is behaving like a selfish angry arse and last night I discovered he had nicked money out of dd2's money box. This morning I have DD's friends over as well (4&6) and although usually they all play really nicely, today it is like a blumin battlefield.

Christmas stuff is as prepped as it is ever going to be, WIBU to stick the littlies in front of the tv (teen is STILL in bed) and bugger off to my room with a cup of tea and a book for half an hour before they all start claiming starvation? Although there is the possibility it may result in a trashed house and bloodshed (if dd1's behaviour so far today is anything to go by).

Yanbu although WHY are you having a playdate at this time of year? YANBU at all to stick them in front of TV...give them a supply of crisps and crap to eat too!

Technically it isn't a playmate, their mum is my friend, they are friends of the girls, but I registered childminder so get paid for looking after them. Their Mum is a postie, Dad is a farmer. Mum told me she was working today on Friday (she had said she was off but had got mixed up with her shifts) and she has been absolutley wonderful in her support for me over the last wee while (and I need the money) so didn't want to say no.

They have gone home now, DS has apologised and given money back, DD's in front of TV (with mince pies and warm milk) I have tea. Feel bit better now.
