And of DS? He is 4 weeks old and we have just had our first 24 hours exclusively breast feeding. No expressed milk, no formula - just good old boob!!

I am so happy I had to share! It has been a LONG hard slog involving many midwives, infant nutritionists, breast feeding support teams etc. but I think we might finally be getting there! GO US!

Here's to the next 24 hours...

gimmecakeandcandy · 24/12/2012 08:17

Yes you should be very proud of yourself, that is wonderful and well done you for persevering as in many cases that is what it is all about. Well done you, and keep posting as would love to know how you get on. X

LRDtheFeministDude · 24/12/2012 08:26

Well done! Smile

(And can I say, it's so nice reading a happy thread, it spreads the Christmas cheer a little!)

DeltaUniformDeltaEcho · 24/12/2012 08:31

:o congratulations!

Now excuse me while I glaze over with the thought of a squishy newborn to feed....

Merry christmas!

peaceandlovebunny · 24/12/2012 08:38

Theicingontop · 24/12/2012 08:40

Congratulations! And here's to many exclusive booby days to come Xmas Grin

ChaoticforlifenotjustChristmas · 24/12/2012 08:42

Well done Xmas Smile

RedHelenB · 24/12/2012 08:44

Well done, it's a wonderful thing to be able to do for both you & baby. particularly as it didn't come easily. I always remember a fellow new mum on the maternity ward needing to keep ringing the bell for assistance & the bottle fed baby mums seemingly feeding & putting their babies down easily & thinking that if dd1 hadn't latched on so well I might well have not had the perseverance to carry on.

peanutMD · 24/12/2012 08:47

Well done you and DS for persevering :o

I'm expecting DC2 in 11 Weeks hoping to BF (didn't have the courage or support to try last time) glad to hear of a positive story and I'm encouraged by the fact that a bumpy start and a few bottles won't mean it can't be done, thank you!!

IAmNotACaterpillar · 24/12/2012 08:53

Well done you! And well done to DS! Heres to many more bf days ahead. I particularly liked those moments when my children needed a feed just as the washing up needed doing Xmas Grin

nillynoon · 24/12/2012 08:55

Well done you for sticking in, breastfeeding is wonderful when you both get the hang of it, you should be v proud

sammysaidso · 24/12/2012 08:58

Well done to the both of you.
My ds is 18 weeks old and we've had a rough time (reflux hell) but we are still here and still breastfeeding.
Its hard work but worth it, hope you two can carry on the good work.

applecrumple · 24/12/2012 09:02

Good for you! Took me 12 weeks to get the hang of BF!

fishandlilacs · 24/12/2012 09:04

:) Merry christmas. In a few weeks you'll wonder why it was so difficult. Very well done x

BigW · 24/12/2012 11:41

Aw, you guys! Blush.

We are going out this afternoon, so that will be the next test. Trying to decide whether to bring a bottle of expressed milk with just in case. Undecided.

Well done, and congratulations!! BF'ing is hard, and your perseverance and dedication is honourable! Well done DS too, long may the booby days reign!

RobinsBaubleSparkles · 24/12/2012 11:51

Aww, I miss those little newborn days! Give him a little squeeze and I hope you enjoy his first Christmas Xmas Smile.

SayMama · 24/12/2012 11:53

Well done! You should be proud, I found it really hard!

Iheartpasties · 24/12/2012 11:55

Well done, good job. Me and dd1 were crap at bf, but thankfully dd2 is a dream to bf. well done to you both, I found it do hard first time around, I couldn't get the hang of it at all.

FeelingFestiveCheerMum · 24/12/2012 12:03

Well done you xxxxxxx

BigW · 24/12/2012 12:04

peanut I thought that too about giving him a bottle in the early days and was about to give up when I spoke to someone from my local bf support team. They assured me it was possible to get him back and gave me the confidence I needed to persevere.

Don't know whether this would be appropriate for everyone, but we were really struggling - bear in mind he had only latched on once or twice ever. We used nipple shields to get him used to the idea because it felt like a bottle in his mouth so he knew to suck. It worked a treat and now we are gradually phasing them out.

Thanks again all you lovely ladies and merry Christmas xxx Xmas Grin
