On Facebook this morning. Several friends have uploaded their immaculately dressed dining tables, already ready for Xmas day. Best china. Best crystal. Best serving dishes and best cutlery. Fancy table feature with various twigs and candles. I have none of this. WIBU to rush out and panic buy perfect Crimbo table accessories from John Lewis? Or will my Tesco best non china suffice? Sob.... Facebook has once again made me feel deficient.

Yesterday our gravy boat got smashed!

Dh went to Sainsburys and got a plain white one - my dinner set doesn't have one to match in it's range, it brings me out in a cold panicy sweat everytime I look at it.

I have never tried frozen roasts, surely they are not as lovely as homemade ones?!

well all i can say is that my Mum is an excellent cook and very discerning about the quality of roast potatoes. She keeps a packet of Aunt Bessie's in the freezer for when she can't be bothered to do proper roasties, she considers them an excellent alternative.

The frozen roast potatoes are ok but don't beat home made obviously. my mum makes a real fuss about roast potatoes but I find them easy and often make them. everyone likes them.

Any tips on roast parsnips. don't make them. do you cut the middle out and parboil. How long to roast? 30 mins

Yanbu. Comment: well done, here
Is your brownie guide "I can set the table badge" kirstie would not have a showroom table she would have home made rustic stuff.

I imagine in homes where the table is laid for 3 days in advance, they are eating in the kitchen till they havepermission to mess up the table.

Relax and enjoy. And be glad you aren't spending Xmas day with them in a competitive table laying situation.
