To wonder why a Christmas card

Can reach America quicker than it can reach the next town over when posted on the same day, the UK one posted first class?!

Posted both cards on the 10th Dec. the one that winged its way across the Atlantic took just 36 hours to arrive. The one trudging 30 miles up the A12 took 72 hours to reach it's destination.

AIBU to think that the UK one should have got there first? And maybe have reached the recipient before they went abroad to visit their inlaws?!

So, what the actual friff delayed my UK card so much that it took longer to go 30 miles than my America card took to arrive?

I think it's because international mail will be given priority in December. Which backlogs the system for the UK.

It's a pain in the arse.

Flooding could have something to do with it?

A friend posted me a card who lives 1 miles away and it still hasn't arrived yet the overseas cards I sent did. All my 1st class post took on average 4 days to arrive but then I sent something 2nd and it got their the next day!
