and has upset my mother.

She has bought crap presents for everyone in the family except me. Because 8 years ago I told my cousin I thought she should get a job.

So bitch Aunt feels she has to make a point by including everyone else and ignoring me. I don't care. I can rise above it and laugh at her pathetic attrmpts to upset me. But mother does. Which then makes me angry.

Do I post her (quite religious) Christmas card through her letterbox (she is a stauch and quite rude about it athiest). Or ignore the bitch.

Dear oh dear, ignore Aunt, console your Mum, don't let petty squabbles get in the way of your festive spirit.

LilyVonSchtupp · 22/12/2012 10:40

Yes you sound like you have risen above it and it doesn't bother you. Xmas Hmm 8 years later.

YABU.

ChaoticforlifenotjustChristmas · 22/12/2012 10:47

Just point out to your mum that you aunt has saved you the hassle of having to take it to the charity shop later.

tisnottheseasonyet · 22/12/2012 11:09

so. Your mother gets a gift from her?

And she accepts it?

If she's that angry about this snub, then why doesn't she refuse the gift?

That would pass the best message to the aunt

Excellent post.

Deliver card, smile and have a peaceful Christmas

TheMonster · 22/12/2012 11:14

Deliver the card. I would.

kakapo · 22/12/2012 11:14

I don't think religious cards bother many atheists, even staunch ones. They certainly don't bother me, and no one I know has ever said anything either. Sorry to burst your bubbles Xmas Grin

Startail · 22/12/2012 11:23

You sound like you want to hold a grudge and need to get over yourself.

Bitch is a very nasty word and should be reserved for people who truly deserve it.

You are being very smug insisting on sending religious cards to people you know they will annoy.

I'm a staunch atheist, but I try to find religious cards for friends I know prefer them. It needs a bit of give and take in both sides.

Even if the Christians did pinch a nice pagan midwinter festivalWink

But the op knows it will. She wants to send it in retaliation for the aunt upsetting her mum. Because she knows it will bother her.

Except she wrote it before the aunt upset her mum. So she ws planning on sending a card that she knew would piss her off before anything happened.

TaggieCrimbleBlack · 22/12/2012 12:20

Card delivered. Not bought specifically to piss her off but in a pack with 35 others. From the church charity shop. Because it is a charity I support. Everyone has had the ssme. Even the agnostcs, methodists and athiests among my ftiends and relatives.

I am rising above it. Flapping my angel wings madly while polishing my halo.

Well done Taggie. Mother Theresa ain't a patch on you. I'm sure your aunt will be deeply moved and humbled by the profoundly selfless and Christlike gesture of sending her a 8" x 5" piece of card.

ilovesooty · 22/12/2012 16:04

If your aunt doesn't like you much I'm beginning to see why.

I'm also in agreement with the poster who wonders why your mother's accepting gifts from her if she's so upset by her.

LilyVonSchtupp · 22/12/2012 16:17

Us atheists really aren't bothered by religious Christmas cards (pausing while I dust my nativity).

What we love more than anything is finding out there really are Christians who exemplify the hypocritical, judgmental, smug stereotype.

Happy Saturnalia

ModernToss · 22/12/2012 16:52

Quite apart from the random lumping together of Methodists with atheists and agonstics, which seems harsh, you certainly don't seem to be full of the supposedly Christian spirit of love and forgiveness OP.
