AIBU to not change ds's nappy yet?

Ds is 1 month old and peacefully sleeping on my chest.

He has also just filled his nappy.

His last change was 2 1/2 hours ago, then he fed, then he fell asleep. He doesn't have nappy rash, nor any sign of it, and is wearing a nice soft reusable nappy.

Dp will be home from work in 25 minutes. I have expressed 3 floz of milk so that he can do a feed and have a cuddle. If i change him now, he'll wake up and want feeding.

Aibu to leave it until just before dp gets home? Obviously if he wakes of his own accord I'll change and feed him!

No, if he is comfy he should be fine. Just make sure you really clean him well when he does wake up/

MagicHouse · 21/12/2012 17:32

Don't wake him, another 25 mins won't make a difference :-)

gwenniebee · 21/12/2012 17:40

I used to work on the basis that if I hadn't been in the room, I wouldn't have known the nappy was full.

Enjoy your slightly whiffy cuddles Xmas Smile

Don't change him..... DD was a right one for doing a poo, having her bum changed snd then 5-10 minutes later doing another one. She was like clockwork...... So we would always leave her for 15 mins or so just to be sure she had time to do the second (tmi, sorry). Obviously if there is nappy rash then that is different, but like you said he hasn't so don't worry.

SleighbellsRingInYourLife · 21/12/2012 17:45

1 month old babies do tiny little polite poos that can be left a little while if needs be.

In a few months he'll consolidate those poos into enormous liquid explosions that have to be dealt with immediately (or sooner :o )

Leave him where he is. He's happy, you're happy. The poo barely smells. :)

Been lurking for abit and had lots of usefull information but thought i shall post on here.

Having had 2nd dc i'm more laid back, as with the 1st dc i would have changed it straight away. But now i think as long as they haven't got a rash they will soon tell you when they are uncomfy and wake up i'm sure.

I wish someone would tell my dc to do nice delicate poo's i never new babies could projectile poo until a month ago!?

Fairylea · 21/12/2012 18:40

Leave him :)

My ds 6 months has started to "ninja poo" - basically so silent and non-violent that we only realise when we go to change him because we think he needs it... it's always a surprise when we find he has pooed!

Other times he absolutely stinks! Very odd.

So sometimes we inadvertently leave himbbecause we don't even know!

Bad parents.

I left it, changed him at 5:30 and a very impressed Daddy was presented with a clean baby to feed and cuddle as soon as he got in from work Xmas Grin

We had the poo, change nappy, poo in clean nappy at lunchtime! And these aren't delicate little splats Xmas Hmm at least cloth nappies tend to contain poosplosions... So far...

My 5 week old pooed all the way up his back to his neck earlier......removing his vest was fun!

CaliforniaSucksSnowballs · 21/12/2012 19:49

Unless it was one of those exploding up the back and out the sides poo's I'd leave it.
I believe it's a cardinal sin to wake a sleeping baby, unless they need to be woken for medial reasons like slow weight gain or illness.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 21/12/2012 19:49

Ooh, i learned how to deal with that on here, nilly - the weird neck is so you can pull the vest off downwards Xmas Grin

Aah, thank you!

ChristmasKnackers · 21/12/2012 20:05

purple that is awesome, I never knew that! Thanks!

Fairylea · 21/12/2012 20:07

I cut ds out of a poopy back vest the other day.. wasteful I know but I just couldn't face pulling it off.

Merida · 21/12/2012 21:32

Best to leave them. DS pulled pooface twice in ten mins earlier so DH decided to change him. Stripped him off just in time for pooface to appear for a third time, and had to watch in horror as he finished the hat-trick all over the changemat.

How I laughed!
