Xmas Blush x a million!

Shoot me again! I'm in a masochistic mood LOL

Hell at work..... hell at home (well OK not hell but busy doesn't really given any sense of the frantic diary checking and organising of everyone that is going on!).
Haven't even got the tree up....

and DD2 has a sleep over tomorrow Xmas Shock

Sweetest ever mate and DD2 never gets sleepovers as shes so busy so I couldn't really say no...

Mate eats nothing.... thin air.... Her mum has suggested she would probably eat sausage and mash. But I've no idea how i'm going to actually buy spuds and make mash in the next 24hrs. So I'm going to do something I've never ever done before and BUY the mash .... I feel soooo guilty!

(we do it real cooking too honest, its just it's all ready done at this time of year from the freezer)

Its a down hill slope to full on neglect of maternal duties isn't it- I can hear my mother saying so..... Mind you that is the same mother that has kept me interestingly employed for the last 5 days!

Right I'm off to town. I will return with frozen mash and standard (ala dull) sausages. Watch me go!

I'd already crossed over to ready made mash but now I learn of a good frozen version!

This could be the biggest change of my life since Bounty mums introduced me to frozen chopped onions.

Ugh!!! Do a jacket spud instead, especially if you've seen this child eat one (or half a one) before.....

TheKnightsWhoSayNi · 21/12/2012 16:00

The best one I've ever see was a frozen jacket potato.

Watch now, someone's gonna say they've bought one. It's just a potato that they put in the freezer and charged 5 times as much for!

if you getr frozen, get aunt bessies.
it's yummy :)

PickledInAPearTree · 21/12/2012 16:07

I have a freezer full of shop bought gnocci. They make the most fluffy, crispy, mini roasties.I'm all for time saving. < Can't be bothered to peel potatoes anymore >

If you were to buy instant mash then Mr Mash is much nicer than Smash and is 99% potato. I bought some when we were camping as you only need a kettle and my lot loved it. I was a bit Hmm after all the time I spend growing spuds on the allotment and making them proper mash but there you go!

Actually, we used to buy them by the sackful for our pub kitchen. I don't know what they do to them but I'm sure it's not just a case of freezing them as we would (they do it really quickly or something) as we tried to do it ourselves and they just didn't come out as nice. The bought ones would go in the microwave frozen and come out as if they'd been in the gas oven for ages, lovely and crispy outside and soft and fluffy inside, very impressive and I'm sure our customers never even thought about them being frozen. We couldn't have afforded to do them any other way. I haven't tried those individual ones you see in freezer cabinets in shops though, they might be awful Grin

My dh makes fab mash. Left to me it's a lumpen hideousity.

So ready made mash all the way for me.

squoosh · 21/12/2012 22:00

Ready made mash is far, far, far superior to frozen homemade mash.

Frozen mash is vile.

PickledInAPearTree · 21/12/2012 22:02

Erm, I have used the ones with the cheese already in.

Do I get a prize for slovenly lazy person of the year?

lovelyladuree · 21/12/2012 23:16

Mashed potato is the work of the devil in any form.
