To have not gone with DH to party because I don't want a sleepover?

Long story short...we're abroad for christmas in DHs country. It's evening here now.

We were meant to go to a friends party tonight. We saw them a few days ago and it's a bring-the-kids type party...there will be some drinking but mainly eating and the hostess has got a thing planned where she's got gifts for all the DC under the tree. I told DH that I did not want to stay the night...as I have my period...my periods are monumentally heavy.

I get bad cramps, clots...t's horrid. I don't want to sleep in their teenage DDs bed as they offered when I am in this state.

It's a 45 minute drive. DH had a tantrum about this and went mad that I spoil his fun all the time (I dont')

I really wanted to go but as I cant drive, DH would have to not drink. He was not willing...even though he wouldn't be getting very drunk because the DDs are with us....he's notwilling to go from 5 beers to only 1....

I just waved them all off and am basically really hurt. The DDs were a bit upset I am not going and I think DH thought I would relent at the last minute and go. But really...would you sleep out when you dont know the hosts that well when you're on a massive period?

Tranexamic acid didn't work.
Mirena didn't work.
Endometrial ablation - they couldn't get my cervix open.

Sad

Roll on the menopause!

I feel for you, OP,

I feel for you re. your period, it must be awful to get them so heavy that they disrupt your plans Sad However I don't see why you should be upset that your OH has gone to the party without you. I like a party and a drink or five and would be gutted if I'd been really looking forward to a good knees-up and then ended up having to drive.

I'm surprised you're bothered that he didn't relent at the last minute. Surely him taking the kids to the party for the night is much better than him not going and then you having to hear about it for the whole weekend and how he's missed out.

But they could both a have gone-OP just did´t want to stay the night.

Surely her husband won´t be drinking anyway if he ´s looking after the kids & driving home tomorrow?

Don´t see why he couldn´t have compromised.

As it is, OP is now on her own at the ILs(?)!!

Your H is "tearful" ? Why ?

Bobyan · 21/12/2012 17:46

Your DH sounds like a child who didn't get what he wanted.

YANBU - I have horrid periods and would not want to stay in those circumstances. He is very unreasonable for going without you when he could have drunk a little less so you could all go. I like a drink but find it pathetic he wasn't prepared to stay sober so you can come along.

OP - IF you are soaking through more than a towel an hour or you are having periods of gushing, you probably need to take action sooner rather than later. I don't know how old you are but in the perimenopausal period things tend to get worse not better.

The treatment protocol is: contraceptive pills, a mirena coil, endometrial ablation, hysterectomy. In that order. I've tried the first two to no avail and have some evidence of fibroids and am constantly anaemic. If you are too anaemic and can't take hormones (for some people they make things worse) then go see the GP and request a referral to the gynaecologist.

Endometrial ablation is not suitable unless you have entirely finished having children - you cannot have anymore afterwards.
