I have just got up after a night feed and the house is a state. Dh as usual is watching tv and has left everything a mess. He says he was going to do it in the morning. I can't stand it. We've had a talk about this too many times. Tmw I feel like leaving him to it & going out but he likes us to spend the day together. Waking up to this is just going to put me in a bad mood.the house was tidy before he got in, now it looks like a bombs hit it Sad

You should leave him to it and then lay down some ground rules when you return.

If he's going to behave like a child he can be treated like one. You're going to have a lovely day out & he can join you if he's tidied up his mess! Wink

Thankyou.Your right. I'm going to take ds1 out for the day. Like you said, when he's finished he can join us Smile

It can't be that much of a bomb site can it!?

Jacksmania · 21/12/2012 06:12

Yeah it can .

I know some people who can devastate a tidy house in 5 minutes.

notnagging · 21/12/2012 06:30

Yep. That sounds like my house. But that 5 minute hurricane takes hours to restore!

My DH is one of those people who can destroy a beautifully clean, tidy house in a matter of minutes. I've actually followed the trail of destruction from one room to the next, eventually locating him pulling everything off a bookcase in the manner of a frustrated toddler because he 'can't find anything'.

I went on strike and got a cleaner for a few months at vast expense. After that, all of a sudden, the wrecking of the house I'd only just finished cleaning stopped. He started doing his share instead. Very strange :)

I might try following him as well just to wind him up. I might even take notes while I'm doing it.Grin

notnagging A mess inventory, brilliant! Could you apply a cost against each item?

e.g. "Hallway, shoes discarded and coat on floor, some discolouration to carpet due to brown substance, £7.99. Living room, scatter cushions appear to have been magnetically repelled by the sofa, rug rumpled, collection of crockery and empty crisp packets adorning every surface, sock hanging from light shade, £12.50. Kitchen, believed to exist towards the back of the property but no discernible cabinets or white goods can currently be located under a fine layer of toast crumbs, discarded cling film, half empty milk bottles and every single cooking utensil currently sold on the high street which experts tell us may have been used to construct a meal consisting of boiled egg and soldiers, £175..."
