I am sitting feeling woeful and concerned it will be too quiet with just me and my two DC 16 and 13 when we have always had that heaving table scenario

This will be the 3rd Christmas since XH left and its my turn again to have the DC and they wanted to be here just us but...

Somehow rather pathetically it makes it worse that XH can offer heaving table of rellies due to his OW and her vast brood of DC

Aside from all that I agree its just so commercial and when I was putting out all my Christmas paraphenalia tat my heart really wasnt in it. For some reason though I still get drawn into trying for a lovely Christmas Sad

I am a bit bored of Christmas now at 45 so look for a bit of novelty. Last year this was having Xmas at home, just the three of us, and we all loved it.
I fancy going away for Christmas next year.

I am 44 and with a 23 yr old and a 16 yr old, family that live hundreds of miles away, the novelty has definitely worn thin.
Last year I had to wake everybody up ffs. I was sitting there amid a pile of presents just waiting.
This year, though, DH has bought enough booze to sink a rugby team so it's not all bad Grin
