I think that it is impossible for a 5YO boy to watch a grown man playing PS3 without getting a massive shit on if he is not allowed to play.

AIBU??

Of course a 5 year old is going to get upset if a grown up won't let them play a game!

Depends what you mean. Adult playing and 5yo never allowed to play because it's 'bad for them' or whatever, then YANBU - save it for when they're not around. Adult playing and 5yo can't play because it's nearly bedtime/they're about to get in the bath/something else, but they can normally play - then it isn't out of the realms of possibility that 5yo should be able to understand that that it just isn't their turn and YAlittletinyU. I think. If I have the YABU/YANBU the right way around...

He's allowed to play, but I think that it's unreasonable to think a person might sit down and play a good half hour game while he is in the room, without him harassing them to play.

I wanted to know if a 5YO should be able to be told to go and play in their room or whatever.

I find it easier just to turn off the tv and engage the child in doing something.

At his age (nearly 6) should he be able to deal with being told it's not his turn?

Thanks mrsD for clairifying that in my brain Thanks
