Because right now I feel like I am.

I shall rather miss not being able to have a Christmas dinner but I think the lead up to it is worse than the reality of the day itself somehow.

I dont know if you have ever had a christmas alone but I have and infact once I got over hte lead up to it - it was quite empowering...infact it was one of my nicest xmasses!!!

Its the build up and the pressure and everyone as someone said shining a spot light on whats supposed to be - but read the message boards and its a very differnet reality for alot of people.

It is what you make it - everything is what you choose to make it - if you spend the day sulking and feeling gloomy remeber you could also spend the day - dancing round hte house with your daughter - making things - singing - dressing up - being silly - walking on the beach - getting a take away - whatever!!!! Its your choice.

I have also had plenty of other miserable christmases - down to simple humans.

This year could be utter bliss with my amazing DH, DD x 2 - but instead - I dread it- the stupid horrid - nasty in laws - my own demanding difficult DF, other problematic family memebers- i wishthey would all bugger off and leave us to it!

Its only a day and its one day a year, not every xmas can be the best but you will certainly feel empowered if you can take charge and enjoy this one - and if you cant you will definalty have amazing xmasses in the future.

So sorry to hear it OP. I don't know how many people who I personally know will be alone but for us it will be me and my Mum with my puppet-Clifford!! ha ha, with him in my chair as usual. You are welcome to join the oddities if you are in West Yorkshire!.

You are not alone, you have dd.

How many times this year have you wished to have dome quality time with your child?

Now you have a whole day together. Just the two of you.

You could do some art project you don't normally have room for, do some baking together or even spend the day in bed.

You lot have really cheered me up!

I do spend half my life wishing for some quiet time so this can be it. It'll be 10 days jyst me and dd. I have lots of ideas now for lovely things to do.

Thankyou for the invites to lunch. Alas I am up north but your kindness is much appreciate.

Going to treat my self to a nice bottle of red and a humongous box of chocolates.

Glad it's become positive for you now! I hope and pray you have one of the most special Christmases you have ever had.

Ah that's the way Clementine! You and DD might be on your own but there's no need for it to be a miserable day. Smile
