...in thinking a head teacher and staff taking part in a Gangnam YouTube effort is inappropriate at best?

Or am I getting crusty?

I just don't understand how you can hold yourself up as a figure respected in the local community and performance a jiggy dance like a kangaroo chucking a lasoo- along with other 'mature' members of staff.

It is a Boys Grammar School and yet female members of staff are jiggying around to 'sexy lady' lyrics.

Purlease. It is in no way cool but more cringe making than David Brent.

Can't link from iPad but it's Boston Grammar School Gangnam.

Maybe I am just a bit of an old fart but I can't help feel standards are at an all time low when you feel the need to debase yourself this much to 'get down wid da kidz'

YABVVVU.

Two of my teen DD's teachers are in the am dram local panto. One is the panto dame complete with very large boobies and the other has an equally ridiculous outfit.:o They went to see it.I believe there may have been some gangam style dancing, lots of silly jokes and singing. The bloody loved it and had a great time!

In fact DD has said that she loves them more for not being so stuffy!

fuzzypicklehead · 20/12/2012 12:47

"Nobody needs to see middle-aged teachers flapping their flaccid bits around. "

Ohhhhh. I see. Only young and attractive people are allowed to dance.

QueenieLovesEels · 20/12/2012 12:50

Actually I still hold with the view that it is a feminist issue that professional women feel the need to dance to a song with the only intelligible lyrics of 'sexy lady' in an environment where they are models for young men.

That's not to detract from the example given by the men in this who are crotch waggling and acting like loons.

Nice.

I'd rather be considered dull and be prepared to speak out on something that I feel is important........

Ask yourself how voluntary any of this is when someone who objects to it on a forum is given a barrage of insults in response.

Very few of you seem to stand for anything lest you be accused of lacking in 'fun'.

Nothing more tiresome than a lot of old sheep.

Best wishes,

Old Fart x Wink

Erm OP-I know some people have been rude on here, but not all of us have. And just because the vast majority don't agree with youm we are all sheep are we?

I didn't even bother to read the replies till after I had posted mine, cos I think you are wrong. And if you feel so strongly about it, and are going to be rude to everyone, why did you bloody bother asking for our opinion?Hmm

Rollmops · 20/12/2012 13:01

A nation of monstrous exhibitionists, with, sadly, nothing worthwhile to exhibit; trumpeting a ghastly demand that all must be brought down a peg, to lowest common denominator.
Merry XMas and like, innit.

[looks down from high horse]

showmethetoys · 20/12/2012 13:11

Actually, my comment was a bit rude and personal, apologies for that.

OP, which part of the whole thing is it that you have an objection to? Is it the fact that they are teachers? That they are female teachers? Would a different profession have been better, or if they had been male? What if they were kids doing it? Or is it the song that you dont like? Would it have been ok if it were teachers doing it, but to a different song? Or do you just object to anything at all that portrays teachers as human beings?

Believe me, I cannot stand attention seeking 'Oh look at me, I am just kerazy' types, but I do not see anything wrong with this at all.

catgirl1976geesealaying · 20/12/2012 13:24
is our local schools effort

I think they've done a good job Grin

AudrinaWhiteChristmasAdare · 20/12/2012 13:28

That's ace!

"Where we copy and paste our prep" Grin

boschy · 20/12/2012 13:32

this isn't real, is it? is it? IMO the best teachers are the ones that maintain discipline all year round and have enough self-confidence to have fun with their students when it is appropriate.

catgirl1976geesealaying · 20/12/2012 13:33

I loved it...thought they'd put a lot of effort in Grin

AudrinaWhiteChristmasAdare · 20/12/2012 13:34

It's the best dancing I've seen in any of them.

FoofFighter · 20/12/2012 13:37

Nice way to increase hits stealthily Xmas Wink

Jins · 20/12/2012 13:42

I'm not linking the one from DSs school. There were moments that nearly made me lose my breakfast Grin

TapirAroundTheChristmasTree · 20/12/2012 14:16

OP - "Am I BU?"
MN - "Yes"
OP - "But but you're all a bunch of sheep...."

I remember being in primary school where the teachers performed the xmas play every year. The headmaster took great delight in dressing up as a woman and popping his fake boobs for us - cue much hysterical laughter.

Lovecat · 20/12/2012 14:18

Oh dear, OP. You would hate the school my friend teaches at. She, the HT and 2 male teachers re-enacted the Single Ladies dance at an end of term assembly a few years ago. The male teachers wore fright wigs, black leotards and high heels a la Justin Timberlake... it was brilliant.

As for the feminism argument.... I'm a fully paid up humourless feminist (I have a badge and everything) but I can't see the problem here. I think you're looking for ways to be offended now.

peacefuloptimist · 20/12/2012 14:56

I agree OP it's very cringey. It could have been good if they had done it well (like the MIT university gangnam video - it's hilarious) but there's looks very forced. As if some of them were doing it unwillingly.

PickledInAPearTree · 20/12/2012 17:33

Am I being a bit crusty - yes

Oh now its a serious feminist issue and your all sheep.

Baaa!

IvanaNapAfterChristmasDinner · 20/12/2012 17:47

I thought this was going to be about Tadcaster Grammar School doing their Tad Gram Style for children in need, YouTube link Grin

Catchy bugger, isn't it?! I need a cup of Yorkshire Tea now...

RedToothbrush · 20/12/2012 17:57

I thought more people had seen this:

I'm thinking if its ok for troops to do it, its fine for teachers. Both respectable positions.

wewereherefirst · 20/12/2012 18:08

Red- that was on BBC Breakfast this morning, twas cool. Even Tesco are in on the Gangnam style¡

susanann · 20/12/2012 18:18

my teachers used to do an end of year show. It was always very funny and we looked forward to it for weeks. I think they gained more respect because they were prepared to make fools of themselves. Our strict maths teacher dressed up as a woman, never expected that! Was hilarious. Sorry dont understand your objections, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 20/12/2012 18:24

My nephew's school recently raised £300 at a PT fundraiser with the teachers doing this.

Although it's a mixed state primary and it was mostly quite hot male teachers doing it, if that makes a difference Hmm.

Two of my male teachers dressed in drag and performed RESPECT at our school prom. It was 21 years ago and I still laugh whenever I hear that song.

Lighten up - it's Christmas Grin!

Rudolphstolemycarrots · 20/12/2012 18:38

The kids will love this! My DS and I sat through the whole thing and thought it was great fun.

Teachers can have a sense of humor you know

FobblyWoof · 20/12/2012 18:43

At my schools annual talent show five of our male teachers dressed up as the spice girls. Xmas Grin it was certainly a sight! We were in hysterics, but it didn't make a difference to our attitude towards the teachers involved (other than some light ribbing).

So I think YAB just a little bit U, but I can see why you would think that. And thank you so much because id forgotten the above story until I read this thread Xmas Smile

Emmielu · 20/12/2012 18:54

when I was at school the teachers did 12 days of Christmas and one teacher was always the goose laying. looking back he did a very good job of looking like a constipated goose. We used to love it and to be honest why not let the teachers have some fun.
