None in our local Sainsburys. They havent had any for days. Same with our local Tesco. They said they just havent been getting them in.
Quality Street is piled ceiling high though.
Our larger Tesco out of town store hasnt had them on lately either. Has anyone else who prefers Roses had trouble getting hold of a tin?

We have a Roses shortage round here too. And not seen a single tin of Celebrations - do they just do the jars now? Finally picked one up in Tesco, but it's a big one.

Horsemad · 19/12/2012 23:05

Last year we could not get any tins of Celebrations anywhere within a 30 mile radius!

Was ridiculous - made sure they were the first thing I bought this year. Grin

chocolatespiders · 19/12/2012 23:08

shortage of celebrations here. but found today in Aldi (bin people will be happy in the morning)

INeedThatForkOff · 19/12/2012 23:10

I had a tin of Heroes and ate them. They were rank.

Celebrations, in the other hand, do actually taste like the full sized versions.

MaryChristmaZEverybody · 19/12/2012 23:10

I have four in my bedroom.

one of them might have been sampled though

And two of celebrations and one each of Cadbury Heroes and Quality Street.

The kids haven't found them because I'm locking my bedroom door.

DowntonSprouts · 19/12/2012 23:11

They were on offer at sainsburys for £3.99 a tin last week. I think they sold out.

peeriebear · 19/12/2012 23:11

I like Quality Street :) Even if they do have a bizarre name that nobody even thinks about any more.

Jingleallthejay · 20/12/2012 08:54

Plenty of tins of Roses on ebay for £9.99. Thieving cunts.

no way Shock

Mrsrudolphduvall · 20/12/2012 09:01

I think we must be the only Roses/Quality Street/Celebrations -free house in the UK?
Hate them.
I have my dark chocolate gingers.

nellyjelly · 20/12/2012 09:03

I like Quality Street better than Roses.

PrincessOfChina · 20/12/2012 09:07

I work for Cadbury and I'm sure I heard at work that sales of tins was actually down. We're still shipping though so new stock must be going out all the time. We haven't had any Roses in the staff shop so they must be selling what they have.

Jingleallthejay · 20/12/2012 09:07

I like Quality Street better than Roses.

loads left knock your self out Xmas Grin

I have my dark chocolate gingers.

i love them

WhenAChildIsBawnTigga · 20/12/2012 09:10

Cos Nestle are a top 5 boycotted company due to a severe lack of ethics so you buy the other stuff and it goes.

IMissAeroTiggaxx

PottedShrimp · 20/12/2012 09:10

no roses or celebration or heros left round my neck of the wood.

Just tons of Qual St

valiumredhead · 20/12/2012 09:16

NOthing in our Tesco only shitty QS!

SomeTiggyPudding · 20/12/2012 09:21

I think it's because the makers of Roses have thought to themselves "Actually, our chocolates are a bit shit aren't they?" And they are quite right to think so. They're chocolates to buy somebody you don't actively hate rather than somebody you love.

Don't get me started on (lack of) 'Quality' Street.

catsmother · 20/12/2012 09:27

I've been buying Xmas chocs for months now whenever they've been on offer - and hiding them in various places round the house - and then forgetting what I had. We now have a chocolate mountain (tins QS, Roses, Celebrations, big boxes Roses, Heroes, Green & Black bars, Choc Orange segments, Lindor, Toblerone pieces, choc marzipan, After Eights, Bendicks Mints, various Lidl chocs, big box Thornton - absolutely bloody ridiculous !! .... plus all the kids' coins, tubes, choc santas etc) which is making me feel sick but unfortunately not quite sick enough to resist the automatic grazing you do without really thinking. Plus I just know more choc will be coming our way from MIL. Have a nasty feeling I will be much fatter in Jan. Or I need to donate some of it - actually that'd be much better wouldn't it - will look into that.

catsmother · 20/12/2012 09:28

Really this thread has made me feel quite ashamed - QS and Roses are mostly horrid these days anyway so I don't know why I bothered.

AWimbaWayInaManger · 20/12/2012 09:35

No roses in sainsburys here either, luckily I've spotted a tin dh must have bought weeks ago and hidden. Maybe that's where they've all gone, weird men buying them up and hiding them Confused.

AWimbaWayInaManger · 20/12/2012 09:36

Ha, x-post, catsmother is in on the weird hiding!

ProfYaffle · 20/12/2012 09:39

I wonder if it's something to do with this weird buying policy the shops seem to have now where they actively try and sell out of Xmas stock just before Xmas. I was quite shocked yesterday when I went out to get a handful of last minute presents and found the shops nearly empty of gifts and I had to rootle around in the arse end of the 'reduced to clear' section.

catsmother · 20/12/2012 09:40

I can assure you I'm not a weird man !

SomeTiggyPudding · 20/12/2012 09:44

Well I don't buy them and I'm a weird man.

Lonecatwithkitten · 20/12/2012 09:47

It's because we have them all. My lovely staff and I have been given 5 tins so far by our wonderful clients to go with the 7 tins of biscuits.Xmas Smile.

Scholes34 · 20/12/2012 12:14

I completely understand where catsmother is coming from. I've resisted all temptation this year on buying chocolate to avoid the grazing and I really do feel I'm going to be going cold turkey. However, Santa may yet come to the rescue.

And our Tesco yesterday had no Roses.
