AIBU to worry about my 2 month old baby sleeping through the night?

I am getting worried about my EBF DS sleeping through the night. He is 10 weeks now and he has been sleeping for 5 hours during the night for two weeks but now it has been two nights since he sleeps for 7 to 8 hours... goes to bed at midnight and wakes up at about 8am.

I am aware that sleeping through the night is like the holy grail for some, but I was expecting to be sleep deprived for at least 6 months and not worrying about him sleeping 'too much'
If it makes any difference, his weight and lenght are 12 lbs 5oz/ 5.600 kg and 63cm lenght / about 2 foot I think.

My dd2 slept through (9-11 hours per night) from 7 weeks. It was bliss. Then she hit 4 months and went to waking every 1-2 hours. It was a nightmare!

Don't worry about your baby sleeping through, but be aware that it could change and it's very normal for it to change. Fingers crossed for you that he carries on sleeping through. Xmas Smile

My ds is 10 weeks.and.he.sleeps through most nights. He has short naps in the day and feeds a lot. I'm enjoying it and I.suggest you do the same!

tabulahrasa · 18/12/2012 19:02

DD slept through the night night from 5 weeks...till 6 months when she screamed non-stop for about 3 hours, for months until her teeth came through.

Enjoy it, in case it doesn't last, lol

DeathMetalMum · 18/12/2012 19:05

My Dd also did this at about 10 weeks. Lasted until about 6 months then didnt sleep through again apart from random nights every so often until around 14 months. Enjoy while it lasts :)

Hmm. Thinly veiled 'My baby sleeps lots so meh' thread. Grin

what everyone else said- enjoy it! I am very jealous!

Fluffy1234 · 18/12/2012 19:28

Sounds fairly normal to me. My 3 slept for 8 hours at 8 weeks and 12 hours at 12 weeks. They all had colic in the evening and ds2 just wanted to be picked up all day so thank god they did sleep at night.

autumnmum · 18/12/2012 19:48

My DS did this from 6 weeks until 16 weeks, when he decided he had obviously had enough sleep and didn't sleep through again until he was 1. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Why couldn't I have got a baby like that? [Sobs into tea].

Loislane78 · 18/12/2012 20:34

Exactly what bertie said my DD did this, now back to at least 2 wakings at night with 4 month sleep regression.

Stock up on sleep now! :)

Psammead · 18/12/2012 20:37

I breed good sleepers. DD2 sleeps at least 6 hours on the trot and has done since day one. She's 9 weeks now.

DD1 wasn't quite as good, but she was certainly sleeping through (12 hours) since she turned 1. We've had approx. 3 nights where she's woken since then and she's almost 3 now,

If the child is putting on weight, has regular wet nappies and seems alert, do not wake them for a feed!

TENDTOprocrastinate · 18/12/2012 20:50

Sounds normal to me. You don't hear about the good sleepers as often. Both my dd started sleeping 8 hours at 7weeks. And 12 hours by 12weeks. Swings and roundabouts though- I had an awful pregnancy of doom!

I hate this thread. Spare a thought for us sleep deprived, never slept through the night, baby owners this christmas Grin

ChocFudgeCake · 18/12/2012 20:56

Congrats! Enjoy.

I agree with earlier posters. Mine did this for a bit and I did the smug face enjoyed it while it lasted.

He then went FIFTEEN MONTHS without going more than six hours at a time. Do we have a [zombie] emoticon?
