Housing association ~ refusing to come and fix because....

I told them I really needed my hot water/heating put back on as the children have a sickness virus? They didn't want their workers catching it Hmm

It didn't pay to be honest did it?

Back story of sorts: when we moved in to this house we have inherited masses of problems that need doing, black mould , wet front door ...tank needing to be replaced. Damp EVERYWHERE etc...There is more but you get the picture.

The asset manager came to take a look 2 wks ago, and made all manner of excuses to avoid getting this house up to scratch.

So, on Saturday I was putting something on the mantel piece and felt drops of water on my hand, turns out part of the tank has lost a piece? making it drip through the ceiling. Anyway... it involved the emergency guy to turn off the hot water and heating.

When I phoned yesterday , I mentioned I'd really need it done ASAP, my youngest has just turned 4 ....DH manual job... They said they would call me back. They did, and then came up with that crazy reason for not coming out!

They would provide us with a couple of heaters, and return when the children are better apparently.

This is only the tip of the ice-burg with this house, it goes on and on. Each time I send a detailed mail to the 'contact' team , I'm sent a curt 2 line response in purple font! Just not taking anything seriously. When the guys come out to 'fix' things they give me a Wink face tell me I didn't hear it from them but "what about E/health?

My eldest(14) can't go to school as he can't wash in freezing water, in a bathroom in sub-zero temperatures!

I can can clean the little ones with wipes , to a certain extent.

Not him though, it wouldn't be fair to hand him a pack! He is 14 he needs a bath!

can you take them to the leisure centre to take a shower?

MousyMouse · 18/12/2012 08:56

or could he have a shower at school?

We live in a very rural area, DH takes the car to work.

What I'll do though, is , just help him do his hair with the freezing water etc...I'll boil water for him to make do/take a wash.

For 14 he is very developed , masses of curly hair, greasy very quickly, BO if not showered everyday. I couldn't send him on the bus with friends. I'd feel bad for him. Its not like I've noticed he smells, but you know Wink I'd hate for him to feel bad.

I've just spoken to the HA, they might come today so the rest of my post might be moot anyway.

People who get HB still pay rent, they pay most/all with HB. But they stil pay it. I think what Freddos was saying was that as a paying tenant, HOWEVER the rent is funded, OP deserves more consideration. As opposed to, say, someone who is squatting. I don't think it was a HB vs self funded rent comment. To me, anyway.

Our phone went out suddenly last week. I've just had the BT guy here, he told me it was caused directly by the walls being too wet!
When he took the socket off the wall, it was apparent the mould has taken off, right through there also.
I phoned E/health -they will contact the HA to see what is going on.

They also tried to suggest that perhaps my damp/black mould problem was caused by us not having the heating on enough. Hmm I appreciate that might make a bit of condensation/damp, it wouldn't cook up what is going on here!
