I've just come across this on Facebook.
RapeX anti-rape device

Never ever heard of it in my life until now, but apparently it's been around for a few years. In a nutshell, it's an anti-rape device for women called Rapaxe. It's like a condom that women insert in their vagina. Inside the condom there are tooth-like picks that act as a Venus flytrap for a penis. When the penis goes in, the teeth embed themselves to it and they can only be removed surgically. random news article about it from 2007.

I've searched around a bit and have come across this article that claims the product has never gone into production or been sold.

My initial feelings about this product were positive. But thinking about it, isn't it more dangerous? Angry men could turn to murder in a fit of rage. I don't know. On one hand I think it's the perfect quick revenge for an attack but then again, not.

It's a dangerous, stupid idea, which wont prevent rape, but would probably result in rape+serious assault/murder.

On top of that, why the hell would you put anything sharp inside your vagina?!
