to ask if anyone gave their DC a name and then realised it didn't go with your surname?

We have a given DD a name which we love but have just realised that the abrreviated version of her name sounds very short, twee and cartoonish with our surname. I don't want to give her name in full but it's along the lines of like Lucy Lamb or Milly Bull.

It's too late to change her name but I am really worried about this and potential teasing. Her full name sounds lovely but its very likely that her name will be shortened (we shorten it already). We didn't really think about how the nickname would sound with our surname.

Some might think I'm worrying about nothing but this is really bothering me. Has anyone else ever realised they made a mistake with their DCs name and has it caused any problems?

I remember Chris Peacock. When we had a visiting peacock in our garden last year we named him "Chris" in his honour.

I dismissed the name I absolutely loved for DS (OH didn't like it much anyway) because it rhymes with my (foreign) married name, but somehow failed to notice that the common abbreviation of the name we did choose (which lots of people automatically call him even though I deliberately don't Hmm) is almost exactly the same, doh!
