Is utterly disgusting. It is the most vile, synthetic-tasting stuff ever. DD1 had a birthday sleep-over last night, and she wanted me to make her a birthday cake. As I was short of time couldn't be arsed to make her a cake with buttercream completely from scratch, I bought a packet of cake-mix and a tub of the vile icing. I did then decorate it rather nicely. The cake itself tastes nice, but because of the icing, even the kids wouldn't eat it!

YABU - it's my secret ingredient to make my cakes taste better. I am always complimented but they are probably being polite as I am shit at baking despite really enjoy it.

Ye're all deranged.... they're lovely! I've been known to make cakes with both the chocolate and vanilla one on the same cake Shock

And the queen cakes and butterfly buns I made for dd's birthday party with BC icing tasted lush.

I haven't come across a child yet who doesn't like it and we've had parties for up to 35 kids at once so that's a pretty fair sample size.

tbh, i don't bother making buttercream as I don't like it very much, nothing to do with time. It tastes really odd to me, but then i don't really like the cloying taste of butter in general so it's probably that. I'd make ganache if I decided to forgo the BC tubs Grin

YABU, it's dairy free and far nicer than butter cream icing made with pure spread, so a godsend for me as DS has a dairy allergy. I do find the vanilla a bit sweet, but the chocolate ones are lovely.

I second Trixy, Betty Crocker Buttercream Icing is a godsend for those of us trying to make egg and dairy free cakes.

I could kiss Betty!
