Two of each sex, aged 15 to 20. I'd really like to get them doing something other than xbox and texting their mates.

AIBU to think they'd join in with games? Hmm Need some inspiration.

Love the sound of the Poundland dice game. What do each of the numbers mean?

saintmerryweather · 16/12/2012 16:04

please, for the love of god, play more than one game. my ex took me to his aunts house to meet the whole family and said it was always a good laugh, played games etc. we played the riszla game. for 3 hours solid. i wanted to cry!

I love killer :-) I have toned of games up my sleeves as a youth worker but it's so hard to get my DM, DsD or OH to want to play. I am an only child so I never got play games Sad

Made them play articulate last night though which was great. My OH got upset though when everyone laughed at him when I said "something prickly in the desert" and he guessed hedgehog lol.

Something like 'Scene it?' maybe the comedy one.

We always like the Wii on at Christmas. Things like 10 pin bowling or downhill ski-ing are great fun, as are Rayman Raving Rabbits. Last year my DB bought some sort of mat thing for it which meant you could crawl about rock climbing, etc which was terrific to watch Grandad doing! 6 yo was hugely triumphant as he beat all the (drunken) adults.

A very load card game we all love is Pit. Very simple, works for all ages and guaranteed to leave you with no voice on boxing day

*that should be loud

I can heartily recommend charades, but you need pre-printed cards for it to run smoothly. I have charades playing cards with hundreds of titles and it's been used so much I know I most them at this stage :) It's been played at many a party and one Christmas we ended up playing it for nearly 5 hours. By the end I was laughing so much I really felt queasy and sore. My DSis, bless her heart, is the worst charades player ever to exist, her clues are absolutely hilarious.

I'm sure you could download charades cards from the internet.

My family play charades differently than my friends the rest of the world.
In our version the players form two teams (girls against boys /kids(teens upwards!) v parents) and each team thinks of a 3 syllable word. Then the teams put on 4 mini sketches taking it in turns. In the first sketch one person has to get the first syllable in. In the second sketch someone else has to say the second syllable etc the final sketch the whole word has to be mentioned.
It's great fun and involves huge amounts of dressing up (no ones wardrobe is off limits). Is very funny and gets the entire family playing together.
Does anyone else play charades like this?

centre I love the sound of that dice game. Think I'll be heading to Poundland for some things. I guess you get some good things and some things no one will want to make it more fun.

snozzlemaid · 20/12/2012 17:21

I now have a sack full of goodies tat from poundland ready for the dice game. I can't wait. Hopefully all ages will love it.

snozzlemaid · 25/12/2012 20:11

CentreYourCheese your dice game was a huge success. It was enjoyed by all from dd(11) up to grandparents. Really was a brilliant laugh.
Will definitely be doing that one again.
