...figure out what to buy DS for Christmas?

He has just turned 2, and so has just had a load of presents! He loves his train set and has just been bought a new car garage and loads of toy cars etc. He has a play tent, a ride on, a little tykes car, building blocks, art easel, crayons, books, remote control car. I mean seriously - I never knew a kid could get so much for a birthday!!

So now I don't know what to get for Christmas for him. Am lost. Please help!!!

5yr old DSS is so much easier, he loves angry birds, lego, hot wheels, and colouring in. DP and I have agreed we will spend £100 each on the kids - including some little stocking items. It was easy to come up with a list for DSS, but then it seems the choice when it comes to hot wheels and lego is never ending. DS, on the other hand, is not quite old enough to appreciate this sort of thing.

Only thing I can think of is a trike/bike or perhaps a scooter. He doesn't yet have the coordination, but I'm assuming he will have before he is three - am I right?

The other is a Kitchen - but do you think he will play with it??

He will LOVE a kitchen. I'd go for that.

Sirzy · 12/12/2012 21:06

DS got a kitchen for his second birthday and loves it.

bradyismyfavouritewiseman · 12/12/2012 21:07

DS is 22 months. We have got him a pedal car. Its surprising how quickly they pick techniques up.

He also loves tools so I got him a tool set from early learning.

although he would like the kitchen as well.

My DS2 got a kitchen when he was either 2.6 or 3.6 and loved it. He was cooking mad for years and even now at 7 likes to do play baking.

Duplo?

Hassled · 12/12/2012 21:09

Toy kitchens are fab and are the sort of thing they just keep coming back to. Plus, the teeny weeny accessories are so cute - get a kitchen and you have the excuse to buy this.

Kitchen! Fab present for a 2 year old.

HollyBerryBush · 12/12/2012 21:10

Di you see Martin Lewis last night ---- box filled with balloons .... and thats enough - love it - wish he;d been around when mine were small - the average christmas present for a toddler/infant is 60 minutes worth of play

Get him a smart trike

They have a couple of "phases£ so grow with them as they develop

jinglebellyalltheway · 12/12/2012 21:12

kitchen is a good value toy in terms of play hours definitely

SanityClause · 12/12/2012 21:13

We had a kitchen which was played with a lot by both DDs and DS for years. We would often have plastic and wooden food dished up to us in bed on a weekend morning. Ikea do good accessories, if you can bear going there, this close to Christmas.

TwoSillyHatsWithBellsOn · 12/12/2012 21:14

If you have space, a trampoline.

I'd never have got one just for a 2yo, but we got one for DS1 (4) and DS2 has loved bouncing ever since he could stand up. Per hour of entertainment it's probably been one of our best purchases.

MardyBra · 12/12/2012 21:14

Yep. Unreasonable. There's a Christmas topic.

WeWilsonAMerryChristmas · 12/12/2012 21:23

Kitchen, definitely. My DS7 played with his non-stop for years and now it's passed onto a friends younger DC he still gets excited when we go to visit and he sees it.

giantpurplepeopleeater · 12/12/2012 21:52

Thanks all - really helpful. DP thinks a Kitchen wouldn't get played with, which was putting me off, but the voice of experience has spoken!! Xmas Smile

Sorry MardyBra, Have a Wine and Thanks as my apology!

My DD (2.3) has a kitchen and barely plays with it, but she adores her smart trike. Definitely one to consider if you walk a lot (we do as we have a dog)
