About 'embarrassing nightclub' photos on FB?

I have a couple if 'friends' (DH's extended family) who have recently started 'liking' photos that make,me really uncomfortable. I can, and will hide them, but that's beside the point.

These photos automatically come up in my news feed as they've been liked by these people, and they're of people photographed on compromising sexual situations in nightclubs, photographed apparently without their knowledge. The accompanying comments are generallly misogynistic and quite vile.

The first pic I saw, while distasteful, didn't bother me quite as much, but the second was of a couple in a toilet cubicle, from an angle that suggests the door is closed.

AIBU to think this is a really dreadful invasion of privacy with potentially ruinous consequences for the people involved (particularly the women, judging by the comments)? I don't really know what to do about it other than report to FB, who would be unlikely to do anything about it. I don't want to engage by commenting in the photo as I wouldn't want to attract more traffic.

Makes me genuinely sad to think that drunken indiscretion (depending on your POV) can be made so readily visible to anyone. I'd hate for that to happen to one of my younger sisters.

I really think people who shag in nightclubs loos are in a poor position to argue for their privacy

However, the photos sound grim. Hide the posts or defriend

I've seen those photos.

Tbh, the best advice you can give your younger sisters is tell them to have some dignity. The same would go if you had younger brothers.

Why does shagging in a locked toilet mean you should expect the picture to be shared on line?

forbiddenfruit85 · 11/12/2012 19:26

I've seen a couple and some are funny -

such as a couple kissing and, her arms are around his neck whilst holding her drinks and one of their friends is drinking it through a straw.

But yes some of the photos really do cross a line.

INeedThatForkOff · 11/12/2012 19:31

Yes, that MrsKeithRichards. I hope I wouldn't need to tell me sisters to have some dignity. But really, a fumble behind closed doors - is that such a moral outrage?

Why does shagging in a locked toilet mean you should expect the picture to be shared on line?

Because in a nightclub it is

a) not very private
b) filled with drunk people who might think it funny to take a photo
c) filled with drunk people who might think it funny to take a photo and post it on line
