To think your dry cleaning receipt is, like, proof you gave them something?

I know this is trivial but, my DH gave the dry cleaners his only suit to clean. The suit has 2 pairs of trousers. He checked them in and they quoted £12.50 for the 3 items and wrote '£12.50' on his stub.

When he collected last night one paid of trousers was missing. The owner had scratched out '£12.50' on his stub and put '£10.50' and said he had chased my DH down the street after he dropped the clothes off as there was only 1 pair of trousers not 2. My DH is adamant he dropped off 2 trousers 1 jacket.

It's annoying because it is his 1 suit, he only occasionally uses the jacket but always buys more trousers as they get quickly spoilt. So although he has a suit he is short of a pair of trousers.

Is it me or does the receipt you get from the dry cleaners act as a kind of proof you handed in what you say you have? Otherwise what's to stop them just taking bits and pieces and claiming you never gave it to them in the first place???

What should DH do???

Check the back of his wardrobe (and he might get into Narnia).

I agree with you OP

YANBU

(still worth a double check they are definitely not at your house, and assuming they are not, i would be back there complaining)

I checked and double checked and they aren't anywhere. I'm not allowed to mention it now because he's sulking that I checked.

The drycleaner should have checked that there were actually 3 pieces handed in before the ticket was given to your DH. If he's sure he handed in the two pairs of trousers then I'd definitely pursue this with the cleaners.

Oh FFS! Between the pair of them they have got the whole thing confused. The dry cleaner thought there was a suit plus 2 pairs of trousers. DH, after sulking and kicking his heels last night, unpacked the suit today....in the plastic was a jacket and 2 pairs of trousers.....

So nothing was lost, the cleaner was looking for something that hadn't been handed in. FFs.

He'll be getting a job in a brewery as his next career....

As you were, everybody.
