So following on from 'dishwasher vodka' threads I have tried to make some chocolate vodka.
Made last night, gorgeous, come to it this morning and its set in the bottles!
It will go back to runny when I put it in warm water but I cant give that as gifts can I?
I know this is the wrong place to post this but im getting desperate, time is running out and ive not budgeted fro disasters with presents!
TIA

What is the recipe for cola cube vodka

Shutupanddrive · 11/12/2012 18:50

I made toffee vodka with Wethers original, was lovely but very strong! auntiemaggie you just put whatever sweets you want mashed up into vodka, shake the bottle and put it through a couple of hot cycles in the dishwasher to mix it. Then keep in freezer until wanted.

Shutupanddrive · 11/12/2012 18:51

Skittles vodka is good too

SpeckleDust · 11/12/2012 18:56

I need some vodka-related help too.

I made some chocolate lime vodka last week and it looks vile(see pic on my profile). The chocolate has separated out from the rest of the concoction and does NOT look appetising . What should I do to redeem it? I have lovely bottles to transfer it into but not going to bother unless I can make it look a lot better than this Xmas Envy

Warm choccy vodka.... reminds me a bit of at uni, where we used to mix a bottle of vodka with a little jar of coffee and a little bag of sugar, microwave it and do it in shots. Used to get us wired! Makes me feel a bit sick now though Smile

Definitely don't throw away the vodka!

ViperInTheManger · 11/12/2012 19:06

Where do you get nice bottles from to put this in? DD is wanting to make some little hampers for relatives but we need some nice little bottles, don't want to give it in vast quantities.

busyprocrastinating · 11/12/2012 19:11

Secondcoming my Palma violet one looks awful too. No idea how to salvage it tho sorry. But my skittles ones look great and smell lovely.

Viper as I couldn't find nice bottles cheap I bought those mini bottles of wine and used them. I now also have lots of wine that I'm going to use for bucks fizz! Win win

Thanks :)

Actually now I remember my finnish housemate used to mash up hard boiled liquorice sweets into vodka to replicate the finnish salmiaki drink...

busy What a great idea, win-win situation! Especially as the smaller ones are out of stock at Wilkos. Thanks

aimingtobeaperfectionist · 11/12/2012 19:44

I have no dishwasher so I melted too much Terry's choc orange in a bowl over water and added vodka.
Using 500ml kilner style bottles from wilkos. Think they were 6for £8.
Got some after eights to try next. Fingers crossed.
Maybe I just need to work on getting the quantities right. Had to re melt original stuff and add more vodka. Tastes stronger but not setting anymore.
Ribbons on the bottle and hand printed labels to finish.

Lakeland do 250ml stoppered bottles for £2.99 - I use them for skittles vodka - they look really attractive when you do a few different flavours grouped together..

here they are

LisaMed · 11/12/2012 20:03

IKEA do stoppered bottles as well. I have them from both Lakeland and IKEA. I do not have the nerve to go to IKEA at this time of year...

Roughly what proportions of chocolate to vodka?

I am about to do the chilli vodka for my neighbour - chillies in a bottle, slit to allow the thingies out but whole to look nice, with a spot of sugar to smooth out the taste. I make it for him every year, he requests it.

I am definitely saving this thread and taking notes...

aimingtobeaperfectionist · 11/12/2012 20:04

I used 5 Terry's chocolate oranges to 1L vodka.
That might have been too much though.

Five whole Terry's chocolate oranges? That seems a lot, but then, I have never tried it.

aimingtobeaperfectionist · 11/12/2012 20:30

Yes it was a lot but I'm greedy and it tastes good!!
