Perhaps the family released it?

McChristmasPants2012 · 09/12/2012 09:51

by the look of the photo, i wouldn't of thought the family realeased it

i dont see why not, it makes the story more real somehow, to fit a face to the event - it is so so sad Sad

OlaRapaceFru · 09/12/2012 09:54

I agree. I saw it on the BBC news website this morning, it looked like a photo from a work ID card. I'd be surprised, and rather horrified, if the hospital had released it.

Proudnscaryvirginmary · 09/12/2012 09:54

Yes the family have released it and the husband has spoken to the press, according to newspapers online.

You say 'bloody media' but it is supply and demand and public interest!

You have started a thread about it so you are obviously following the story.

I think people have to be realistic about this.

If there was a news/picture blackout people would want to know why and start suspecting news organisations were trying to cover it up!

threesocksfullofchocs · 09/12/2012 09:55

if your so offended why start a thread with her name in it?

bradyismyfavouritewiseman · 09/12/2012 09:56

Its a photo of her. We already knew her name and where she worked, what position she held, how long she had been there etc.

Not sure why, when all that info is out there, you are worried about a photo that the family OK'd.

Its important for people to remember she is a person not just a name in a news story. A photo achieves that better than anything else.

Theas18 · 09/12/2012 09:57

I rather think in things like tese the press rather suggest in a slightly blackmaily way that they ae given a photo by the amply to they will get one somehow, and that could be drunken night out from a friends Facebook or similar.

meditrina · 09/12/2012 09:57

I thought it ad been released by the family. I have seen family interviews to the press, and the poor people seem devastated.

McChristmasPants2012 · 09/12/2012 10:03

looks like the Metropolitan Police handed out the photo.

YABU

If my relative died I think I'd feel taht her photo in the media ws the least of my worries (if her name was already known) . I think I'd want people to see her photo to make it more real, not just a news story.

bradyismyfavouritewiseman · 09/12/2012 10:12

looks like the Metropolitan Police handed out the photo.

With permission of the family.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 09/12/2012 10:20

So many people will have a photo of her (or any dead person who is in the news) over which they have copyright that it makes sense for the family to pick one for official release - I actually find that part of it quite respectful.

tectime · 09/12/2012 12:07

What concerns me in this tragic episode, is that one thing is overlooked. Why did Jacintha need to resort to suicide. I wonder if she was due to undergo some disciplinary process. I know the hospital said no disciplinary action was taken, but they did not say it would not have been undertaken. The hospital has been deathly silent on this count.

My thoughts go to Jacintha's husband, children and her other living family. RIP Jacintha. As for the DJs and their employers, well they can take a fast ride to hell and fester there forever. For God's sake what type of counselling do they need that is more importanyt than the support that needs to be afforded to Jacintha's husband and children.

ReallyTired · 09/12/2012 12:11

I hope that Jacintha's family are happy with the photo being in the media. I think its a good idea. It makes clear that Jacintha was a human being with thoughts and feelings like the rest of us. Having the photo plastered all over the world will shame the DJs who caused her death.

Witchety · 09/12/2012 12:15

Are you trying to blame the police now??

Witchety · 09/12/2012 12:17

I have previously worked in a position of trust within the royal family... I can kind of understand those feelings she MAY have had.

slartybartfast · 09/12/2012 12:20

at the time i thought, why should she have argued with the caller. i mean, you wouldnt argue if put on the spot.

elinorbellowed · 09/12/2012 12:37

I feel sad that she was living in lodgings in London during the week while her family were in Bristol. If I have a horrible day at work I know I will see DP and the kids and talk it out and remember who I'm working for and have company to chase away any dark thoughts. She didn't have that at the end of her worst ever working day.

McChristmasPants2012 · 09/12/2012 12:44

Ok Iabu and do understand your point
