To WANT new front teeth... For my Christmas?

When I was about 11 my sister hit my mouth ith a mental pole and knocked my front tooth out and it was replaced by a veneer.

Then at 13ish my dad, punched me in the face and I needed 3 veneers put in as he knocked all 3 teeth out.

Now I'm 29, and the veneers need replacing, as some are cracked at the back/ coming away, etc... I now have small gaps where the gum has thinned as I've got older, which has made the veneer look black (not as bad as it sounds)

So althrough the veneers are still ok, cosmetically they look (for me) bad so its a expense that I cannot justify for cosmetic reasons... When they are still functioning.

I've no idea how much 3 veneers will cost either, but I've asked dh that I want my teeth done for Christmas as a gift.... And he just looked at me as if I was a plonker!!!

Bloody hell after what your poor teeth have been through I think you deserve what you want!

Maybe DH didn't see teeth as much of a treat? If you needed something medical, you wouldn't get it as a gift, would you?

Why not work out a financial plan for the teeth, and DH can get you a genuine treat for Christmas?

Between £300 and £1500 per tooth depending on quality, the higher end looking like teeth and the lower end doing the job. Can you afford it? If not that is quite a bit for a Christmas present... Could you find a dentist who'd so the payment in installments?

You should sue your sorry excuse of a father for a sum large enough to cover dental treatment and counselling. Who punches a 13 year old in the face? I'm sorry you had to go through that - must have been terrible and yes of course you deserve decent teeth!

Gosh I thought it would be covered in the £209 bracket. Which is why I asked for it for Christmas. Instead of presents that I don't want or need, as all I'm wanting is to have a decent smile.

YADNBU to want your teeth fixed. YANBU to ask for it instead of presents.

You would be unlikely to find a dentist to replace three veneers on the nhs for cosmetic reasons, but given your history I would ask your dentist to refer you to a dental hospital. You may not be accepted for treatment there but if you were you would be treated by either closely supervised students or qualified dentists doing further training. You wouldn't have to pay for this, if you weren't accepted for treatment the consultant will still give you advice about what they feel would be the best option for your teeth, so if you did decide to pay to have it done you could be confident in what treatment you were having.
