they must have been up all night making these
I know the world and it's wife will try and make money out of anything, but isn't it just a little sick? The poor woman is very ill in hospital, probably terrified for the life of her unborn baby, and all this crockery company are concerned about is making a fast buck. 'Ooh we're Royalists' they explain. Yeh right. Royalists with pound signs in your eyes.
Thankfully I find Bridgewater pottery really second rate, and extremely overpriced so won't have to stop buying it in protest.

It's clearly been cobbled together with whatever paints etc they had lying about. Not much thought has gone into it at all, it's just to be the firsst one out

I'm sure there will be loads of this stuff out soon enough. Companies will have been designing stuff for when she produced an heir since the day they got married, same as they will already have stuff designed for when the Queen/Prince Phillip/any other royal dies

Feminine · 04/12/2012 14:12

I don't think Kate will be terrified for the life of her baby Confused

as dreadful as her condition is, women very rarely lose their babies.

I agree with you on the Bridgewater pottery though. Its bland at best.

daisydoodoo · 04/12/2012 14:22

wow, how yucky! its made me question buying emma bridgewater products ever again. just seems a bit distasteful.

OhlimpPricks · 04/12/2012 14:34

They could have at least waited until she is out of hospital, and a formal statement is made with the due date etc.

OP posts:
KittyFane1 · 04/12/2012 16:41

Awful. Why would anyone want one?
Especially awful as Kate Middleton is so ill and it's so early on in the pregnancy.

HeadfirstForAMistletoeKiss · 04/12/2012 16:45

It's distasteful. She is still very early on in the pregnancy, she is ill, and they want to make money from her news.

LadyBeagleBaublesandBells · 04/12/2012 16:45

I'm sure Kate and baby will be fine.
But supposing, just supposing she miscarried?
It's all a bit premature at the moment, and a bit sick.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/12/2012 17:05

I think it is really premature. What if she has a miscarriage?

Really badly thought through by Emma Bridgewater, and bad PR IMO.

Angry
Acky123 · 04/12/2012 18:19

They look really crap and the writing's wonky. A bit sad really just to be the first to do it.

MooncupGoddess · 04/12/2012 18:22

It's a bit grim, isn't it. Can't say I'm much of a monarchist but I really feel for Wills and Kate - they must be suffering all of the usual anxieties of pregnancy x 100 as they know that if anything goes wrong they'll have to grieve in the middle of a massive media caravan.

ArkadyRose · 04/12/2012 18:27

It's very tacky and tasteless of them.

Frontpaw · 04/12/2012 18:29

And someone was quoted as being amazed that the mugs we designed so quickly. Eh, Royal baby 2013 painted onto the standard mug with some stencilled hearts is hardly 'design'.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 04/12/2012 18:31

Shock that's awful

Pilgit · 04/12/2012 18:32

Absolutely mooncup - totally distasteful. I wish the media would just leave them alone. She's still in the very early stages and whilst most pregnancies won't go wrong, it is still very common. The last thing they need is the worlds media sitting outside the hospital whilst she's in such a bad state!

Yellowtip · 04/12/2012 18:35

I would imagine that if Kate was to lose the baby (and the chances of that will be reduced by her unparalleled level of medical care) then the media would actually leave her alone.

HalloweenNameChange · 04/12/2012 18:35

eurgh, weird that they are so shit though..surely this was on the cards for a while now? Could have time to make something not so rubbish?

HalloweenNameChange · 04/12/2012 18:36

You think yellowtip? I don't at all.

MimsyBorogroves · 04/12/2012 18:37

Wow, that's just...absolute tat, isn't it?

Yellowtip · 04/12/2012 18:37

The media camp out there whenever a royal goes into King Edward V11, however minor the ailment and however minor the royal. It makes already challenging parking a nightmare. It's a real pain.

Yellowtip · 04/12/2012 18:39

Surey they would, wouldn't they? There must be limits, especially after Levenson etc.

Yellowtip · 04/12/2012 18:43

The Brdgewater mugs are pretty workaday but on past form Party Pieces are bound to excel with the tat, given time.

amandine07 · 04/12/2012 18:44

Yes there's no guarantee this will be a successful pregnancy & she will carry to term. Miscarriages are not rare, even if you have first class healthcare. It's a classic don't count the chickens before they are hatched...

HalloweenNameChange · 04/12/2012 18:49

maybe, yellow.. British media might have a tiny amount more restraint but I would be surprised if foreign media would as it is still an international story.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/12/2012 20:33

Yellowtip early miscarriage is rarely something you can prevent. If a specific problem occurs with one pregnancy then it may be possible to take steps to prevent it occurring in future pregnancies. Maybe.

All her money and medical care won't help her if she loses the baby early on.
