Went shopping yesteerday.ds1. Jas a blu badge so we parked in a disabled space.went to shops and back to car couple of hours later. We have 4 dcs and the baby 7 mths started screaming and was hungry.by then the car park was packd. I started to feed ds while dh got other dcs in car and an elderly couple drove past and politely asked if we were leaving, dh said sorry not yet then 2 other drivers did the same but the fourth stopped got out and said please could we hurry up, I explained that when I had fed ds we would be going but she was really angry and said a disabled space is not just for sitting in that we should go immediately. I was only another ten mins fding ds it is hard enough going out as all dcs have same condition and ds2 was really screaming I had to feed him as it was a long drive home. Was I being unreasonable?

OH yes, that's exactly what I'm saying - people with disabilities shouldn't talk to traffic wardens Hmm

I think it's weird that you'd choose to breastfeed in a car with two children in the back just to ask a question.

Because it is.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 04/12/2012 20:13

of course i should feel 'moronic' gor feeding a troll all afternoon while avoiding housework who is most likely 47 yo truck driver Dave from Stockport! I actually prefer that idea in a way. Shock

bigmouthstrikesagain · 04/12/2012 20:15

opportunist but not wierd - wierd would be borrowing a baby to feedGrin

bigmouthstrikesagain · 04/12/2012 20:16

weird weird

AndABigBirdInaPearTree · 04/12/2012 20:17

or feeding the traffic warden or the dentist.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 04/12/2012 20:18

noneed being dave not the op in case that is not blatently obvious.

IneedAsockamnesty · 04/12/2012 20:32

What's weird about bf a baby in a car with 2 dc's also in the car, when those dc's have a disability that means its easier for them to be in a car rather than sit in a cafe?

It's not even weird if they don't have a disability.bf is a perfectly normal activity done by perfectly normal people every day in many many places sometimes in cars sometimes not.

Unfortunately we do not visit cafes often due to crowded places and certain noises being an issue. Sometimes it's a fact of life that we have to resort to the car. Should this thread not have happened I would still have taken the dc's to the dentist I would still have parked in the same place i would still have bf the baby

the only difference being that because this thread happened I decided to take the opportunity to ask the question because I do not know everything because I know that people who are employed to do a particular job often know more about it than me,and if something interests me enough especially if its something that is likely to be directly relevant to me getting a parking ticket or not I will check.

IneedAsockamnesty · 04/12/2012 20:36

or feeding the traffic warden or the dentist.

Xmas Grin nooooooooo its bad enough that the dentist is very handsome and I grin stupidly at him and blush when ever I see him.

chicane · 04/12/2012 20:39

THank you, I'm aware the breastfeeding is totally natural. I did it for long enough.

Hi again offered, aa law report is is case report, not a leg report that is why they a cited using names and dates from cases you can search for the name of leg refered to in, but not the actual leg itself. Smartarse! Secondlly, if anyone can access a law libray they could go there, but not everyone can or knows how to as Offered demonstrates

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 04/12/2012 20:44

Yes yes, move along now, nothing to see here ..........

NolittleBuddahsorTigerMomshere · 04/12/2012 20:45

Hi Gait, missed Mw? Grin

Offred · 04/12/2012 20:47

I know what a law report is. Law reports are a major part of the jurisprudence of a common law system. If you read the post further up I wrote about where to find statutory law from credible sources but there are also many legal doctrines to learn in a common law system. You can't just google things, even if you find credible seeming sources (such as legislation.gov.uk) you have to know how/if they are updated and how to read them and how to find case law which refines them. This is even more important with eu law which is a very complicated system. You can't just expect people google law.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 04/12/2012 20:47

Chicane comes from the French verb chicaner, which means "to quibble" or "to prevent justice". Which is interesting never knew that. love googling i do.

NolittleBuddahsorTigerMomshere · 04/12/2012 20:47

Tufty How much of your management invollves actuallly identify the probllems of intersectionallity and rectifying it? I thought management was to do with impllementation after the issues have been created/ solllved?

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 04/12/2012 20:51

That's really interesting bigmouth!

Offred · 04/12/2012 20:55

If that's your job then you haven't done too well on identifying intersectional problems on this thread. Just blinkeredly looking only at whether the op's badged disabled children, in your opinion, were benefitting from the delay in leaving denies all of the broad needs of the family.

Offred · 04/12/2012 20:56

Your posts give the impression that some disabled people are more important than others and that disabled people with bbs are the only ones with increased needs.

TuftyFinch · 04/12/2012 21:00

NoLitle yes, ordinarily that would be true but in Brussels the structure works differently.
The OP was perfectly correct and legally entitled to feed her baby.

NolittleBuddahsorTigerMomshere · 04/12/2012 21:06

Offered its amazing that I ever did any crediblle reasearch before we met isn't it? Cases are obviouslly part of JP hence the expression case llaw precident, you still would not get llegislation from them, SI, YES, llegisllation, no.

Offred · 04/12/2012 21:07

Where did I say you'd get statutes from law reports? I said legal databases... Jeez...

NolittleBuddahsorTigerMomshere · 04/12/2012 21:08

Offered, I have not givn that impression at all, I have said repeatedly it would make hide nor hair if I had a space or not! However, you have certainlly given that impression IMHO

Offred · 04/12/2012 21:09

When you said "parliamentary papers" what did you actually mean? Because you are aware that the closest thing to that is Hansard which is only very tenuously used as a legal authority in strictly defined circumstances?

Offred · 04/12/2012 21:11

No, my point is that disabled people are the same as everyone else, first come first served for respective parking spaces and whilst you may be able to politely ask if you have a genuine need you are not entitled to move someone because you think you are more needy than them.

Offred · 04/12/2012 21:11

SIs are legislation btw, just secondary legislation.
