As title says really.

Had lovely 4 days with DD.

Now sad to go to work tomorrow :(

I only work for 3 days then get 4 days off with DD.

Feel really sad that I can't be a full time mum!

You are a full time Mum even if you aren't at home all the time though of course it is not unreasonable to wish you could be home more.

iusedtobefun2 · 02/12/2012 20:58

Me too. I hate leaving her with childminder/nursery/grandparents.
But has to be done.
Makes me sad. Wish I didn't have to work full time.

How old is your DD?

123canyoucopyme · 02/12/2012 20:59

Every Sunday is the same , I always get anxious about going to work and upset about leaving DD

Of course you're not being unreasonable! How old is she? Can you/do you want to reduce your working days?

123canyoucopyme · 02/12/2012 21:00

16 months

I just returned to work last week from mat leave...my ds (pfb Grin) is 9 months and I miss him so much!

At the moment I'm working 4 days...the money and having a hot cuppa is the only pro I can find! I shouldn't complain though...I have a job to go back to.

I too wish I could be a fulltime mum.

AyeOopMoose · 02/12/2012 21:45

Yanbu for missing your DD BUT be happy that you are able to have 4 days together.

Many people can't work reduced hours for many different reasons.

I had to return FT after DD1 and hated it. When I return after DD2 I will be lucky enough to be working 3 days. I will miss DC on the work days but as SOOOOOOO grateful that I have PT. It was a bloody fight but worth it!

OpheliaPayneAgain · 02/12/2012 21:47

168 hours in a week - you're probably working 32 of them. that might put it in perspective

ilovesooty · 02/12/2012 21:55

If you've decided you want to give up work talk to your husband about how this can be facilitated.

catgirl1976geesealaying · 02/12/2012 22:15

You are a full time mum

You are setting her a good example

YANBU to wish you could have more time with her but you need a life and probably an income

montymum · 02/12/2012 22:15

I too am a primary school teacher working 3 days a week and I think myself really lucky. I have a brilliant 4 days with DS every week making the most of every minute. The days at school are so busy that although I hate leaving him I don't have time to think once I arrive and we get 13 weeks a year when we don't have to work at all. YANBU to hate leaving her but just think I only have to work120 days a year, it doesn'y seem quite so bad then. Only 9 working days until the christmas holidays Smile

123canyoucopyme · 02/12/2012 22:37

Montymum you're right. I have her for 4 days and think wow this is great! I should imagine if I had her all week it would soon become conmonplace.

What year group do you teach? I'm year one.

Gah... Dreading that Monday morning start!!

Just got to keep thinking of great groups and swimming on thurs and fri!

I teach Year 3. I work Wednesday to Friday though so never have that Sunday evening dread which is nice! Also when I arrive at work everyone else is heading towards the weekend so seem more relaxed than on a Monday. Maybe see if you can change to later in the week next year, it might not feel so bad then. Hope work isn't too bad today. You only have 85 more working days until the Summer holidays!
