Poor woman, it worse than the fashion police.

My slippers aren't much hassle. A bit lairy now and again but I can handle them.

AgentZigzag · 01/12/2012 00:36

'But the shadow minister does not believe this goes far enough. "There should be no place for a military officer who goes shopping on the high street in pink slippers," he said on Friday. "I don't think the punishment fits the crime. She should be fired."'

Hahahahahaha Grin

Brilliant.

(Although not for the poor woman obviously.)

I bet she just forgot she had them on.

think it a bit odd with the uniform on - is she not representing the force if wearing uniform and should therefore wear it all, shoes included?

AgentZigzag · 01/12/2012 01:20

It's a bit shit it's just because of the colour though isn't it?

Would they have had a go at her if they were black?

David Maynier, the shadow minister of defence, waved a pair of pink slippers to taunt the then defence minister Lindiwe Sisulu ? who happened to be dressed in pink

I think all defence minister should have to wear pink all the time and shadow ministers should have to wear lilic, world peace would happen faster.

But Pink stinks would have to have a re think.

I wore a pair of fuschia pink fluffy boot slippers on the school run yesterday afternoon. My feet were lovely and toastie and I didn't want to un-toastie them!!

I bet she just forgot though.

Dawndonna · 01/12/2012 12:56

My slippers are so bad taste, they're amazing, pointy toes, pink pom poms the lot. I am the least pink and pom pom woman in the world!

I agree with younger mother1. The woman was wearing a national uniform representing her military unit and her country. She should have had uniform shoes on as well. Sacking? No, just perhaps a reprimand.

What the woman was wearing was improtant not what she was doing. School run has nothing to do with wearing an official uniform.

Mine might lead to divorce - husband hates them with a passion. Had them forever, they just will not die. Bright pink croc type cloggy looking things. I luffs them.

FutureNannyOgg · 01/12/2012 13:53

It might seem harsh, but it would be the same in our military. Its not the pinkness ,or that she is shopping in slippers, it is that she is in public wearing incorrect uniform.
There are strict rules about how official uniforms are worn, hem levels, cleanliness, hair style, jewelry, which Items must be worn when (like hats) and nothing extra can be added. When you take on a military position you sign up to those rules.
Had she been in civvies, no one would care, but representing the uniform it's still disciplinary matter.
I'm torn really, I feel for her , but it's already daft move, when I wore a uniform I would take it off at the first opportunity, to avoid all the saluting, hat wearing and worrying about ladders in my tights.

FutureNannyOgg · 01/12/2012 13:54

A really daft move. ..
