To shout 'we're all going to die!'

Ok that's quite dramatic but I am a nervous on flights. I am fed up with the captain telling everyone to turn their phones off for take off and switching them on and onto flight mode once the seatbelts signs go out. NOBODY seems to do this. So am I unreasonable to shout out this cry next time?

I turn flight mode on in the airport and the phone off before we get on.
I can't be arsed digging through all my crap on the plane.

bradywasmyfavouriteking · 30/11/2012 14:06

Sorry posted too early.

i meant i then switch it back on, at some point when the kids are bored and want the games.

yabu

if having a phone on on a plane would actually cause it to crash, they wouldnt be allowed at all. there are bans on all sorts of almost completely innocuous things on planes, they simply wouldnt trust passengers with the responsibility if phones were actually a risk.

however - we are all going to die one day so YWNBU to remind people Wink

I hate flying with a passion. Am terrified but one of the only things that keeps me going is watching films or reading on my iPad. But you are definitely not being unreasonable to be scared.

As a fellow flight hater may i recommend Gin. Lots of it. I had three doubles just before take off, between those and fear I was nicely smashed on the flight. I just lay against the window snoring until we landed. Then vomited all over once I got home

Notally is right though, if they were actually any danger there's no way people would be trusted with them. Could you see a doctor, maybe get some sedatives?

Babyroobs · 30/11/2012 14:13

My son shouted those exact words out as we were just about to board a plane last year ! It was his first time flying and I think he had just got himself into a state. Looking back it was quite funny , he was only 9 though .

wonderingsoul · 30/11/2012 14:22

you may get arested.

BUT

if you do there may be a chance you would meet some lovely people in prision, when you left youd have no sortage of penpals [grins]

Doogle2 · 30/11/2012 14:27

I don't have any objection to them once in the air but I can't believe people blatantly play with them on take off.

I did make the terrible mistake of googling why you are asked to turn them off. It's to stop interference. I found statistics on how many take offs had been affected by mobile phones. I will never google this again and will stick to your gin idea!Grin
