To think charities shouldn't have to pay big supermarkets for their out of date food?

If a charity wants to get out of date food delivered to distribute to the needs, they have to pay up to £500 a year for the priviledge! Big supermarkets have to pay to use landfill to get rid of this food anyway! AIBU to think with the billions of profit supermarkets make, they could do this for free?

I think they can collect for free I have seen them doing it

DamnBamboo · 30/11/2012 12:57

They don't have to pay if they collect it!

realcoalfire · 30/11/2012 13:33

They are not paying for the food they are paying for delivery.

There's no way it could be legal to sell out of date food.

LookAtAllTheseFucksIGive · 30/11/2012 15:29

Saski I take it you don't shop on www.approvedfood.co.uk/here then?

Beksybob · 30/11/2012 15:35

I'm pretty sure it is illiegal to sell out of date food. I work for a food shop and we're not allowed to have the out of date stock. Tonnes of it goes in the skip. Very annoying!

Saski · 30/11/2012 15:41

So, is this a website for out of date food? It appears to be non-perishables that aren't selling well.

Saski · 30/11/2012 16:00

Ah, there IS out-of-date food on this website! I stand corrected.

mysteryfairy · 30/11/2012 16:24

I thought you could sell food beyond its best before date but not perishables beyond the use by date? AFAIK Approved Foods only sell the former.
