I have lodged a complaint about my treatment as a patient in hospital via PALS . This was on 18 th Oct. I chased it up and was told I would have a reply by 21st Nov. I still haven't heard anything. I have been left with a small scar due to botched IV AB's . I feel like suing them now. I have photos of the infected area of skin I was left with but no one has asked to see these. How can they do a proper investigation without seeing the damage they caused?

It takes a long time to get all paper work together, they will be doing something.
It's always worth talking to PALS, we managed to get the whole system of how dh bloods are dealt with and for any future patients with his rare type of cancer.

You could sue, but have feeling your be waiting many yests

I was promised an answer by 21 st of Nov . I would be surprised if any of my treatment was documented properly so I can imagine it'll be hard to investigate. I'll give them til next week and chase again .

You are considering suing for a small scar from an infection? Do you really think that's good use of NHS funds? Think about whether it's having an impact on your life. Unless its terrible, or across your face, I really do think YABU. I've a few marks from where IVs have been in and out. I've never ever thought to complain.

I was left with a bleeding , swollen , weeping wound. I don't really agree with suing NHS and I doubt if I will but my treatment was appalling .

The IV drip tissues and I told the nurse it was burning but they did nothing. I turned the drip off myself in the end .
