My local Thorntons ran out of icing yesterday for the advent calendars so you're obviously not the only one buying them

Dead69Girl · 01/12/2012 20:01

Yanbu,

you sound like a lovely mum :)

crashdoll · 01/12/2012 20:02

My mum greeted me with a Cadbury's advent calendar when I arrived home from work. She fucking rocks. Xmas Grin

McChristmasPants2012 · 01/12/2012 20:05

Why didn't I know about this.

Op Yanbu, if they are going to have one may as well be a nice one

ThatVikRinA22 · 01/12/2012 20:42
Grin they are nice. he got it today!
Tilly28 · 01/12/2012 21:16

I'm 24 and my mum also got me and my dp an advent calendar each too!

lovebunny · 01/12/2012 21:49

fair. this is the first year i haven't offered daughter and her husband advent calendars. they're 30 and 29, with a one year old daughter. she really ought to have an advent calendar - but no chocolate...

EvilTwins · 01/12/2012 21:51

My mum only stopped getting me one when I got married, aged 29. Now I buy my own. This year, I have a Hotel Chocolat affair [sgrin] whilst DH has got himself the Star Wars Lego one.

EvilTwins · 01/12/2012 21:52

Dammit. Grin

neuroticmumof3 · 01/12/2012 21:57

I got DSs a Lindt one each last year but as they just opened the doors all at once to get at the chocolate I haven't bothered getting them one this year. I went a bit mad and got DD a lego friends one (half price on Amazon). As I bought her the lego friends vet set for her birthday I'm justifying the expense by pretending it was part of her birthday present.

I really want one for me now. I haven't had one for years. When I lived at home we had the same picture one year after year. My brothers and I still used to argue about whose turn it was to open it!

MistletoeAndTomHardyPlease · 01/12/2012 21:59

I bought my husband a Lego one! Grin

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 01/12/2012 22:02

My mum bought DP one but not me as I have GD and she knew I couldn't eat it. She bought him an extra big one with the money she saved on mine Xmas Sad

smokinaces · 01/12/2012 22:03

I haven't had an advent calendar for years :-( kids have their spiderman and Mario ones but I have none.

And I'm only thirty.

Is it bad to buy my own?!

fuzzpig · 01/12/2012 22:07

I wasn't allowed an advent calendar as a kid. So I damn well have one now :o on our first Xmas together DH bought me 2.

I got all 4 of us the thorntons one this year - couldn't find any other nice ones anywhere! Didn't have time to get them iced as I was in a rush, but today I bought some of those little coloured writing icing tubes and did our names myself - turned out surprisingly well!

Ha, no, YANBU. I'm 24 and DM still gets me one of these and does my Christmas stocking. She gets one for DH too and he's pushing 30.

BiteTheTopsOffIcedGems · 01/12/2012 22:17

There's advent calenders with gin and beer in y'know.

StinkyWicket · 01/12/2012 22:38

I only found this out about ten minutes ago, I am now annoyed I went all the way into town and didn't get at least one! for myself
