about dd birthday celebrations?

Dh and i are returning to my country of birth with our 2 year old and 5 month old for a 4 week holiday in feb. While we are there my 2 year old turns 3. My dh suggested we have a party here before we go so his family still get to celebrate. I agree that doing something with his family (who are lovely btw) is a good idea but would prefer to do it when we get back. My sister has never met my children and mum and dad haven't seen 2 yo since she was a tiny baby and i want her to have the main celebration with my family. Am i being silly?

Errr yes I think you are. Have a wee tea party with his family and then make a day of it with yours.

Yes, celebrate twice.

Why does it matter if its before or after the holiday?

foreignmummy · 28/11/2012 17:23

I suppose you're right. Just didn't want dd to feel she'd had her main birthday already. As i type that though i realise i mean me! I think i'm over sensitive as my family haven't been able to share any of the milestones so far. What 3 yo has ever questioned why they are lucky enough to have two parties i suppose!

In that case YABU.

TBH as long as the party revolves around her, she won't think of one being the 'main' one.

bradywasmyfavouriteking · 28/11/2012 19:01

as the party revolves around her

Sorry wasn't implying your dd is spoilt or anything but most 3 years olds don't really care about stuff like this as long as the world revolves around them. :)

Arghh! You're right i know! Just tricky being so far away which makes me over sensitive. Thanks for the reality check!
