To not know how to play with my 14 month old?

DS is nearly 14 months and I feel confused about the best way to play with him.

He isn't really into lots of loud musical activity toys and prefers to play with cars and any form of moving toy. That's it. He's obsessed with them! I don't know how to play with him because he just likes to run them around the floor and on tables without me getting in his way.

I feel like I'm being really rubbish because we're not really playing together but if I try to do some stacking with him or play with him on an activity table, he'll get involved for a couple of minutes and then crawl off back to his cars. He's not walking yet either.

AIBU to not know what to do? Is it really damaging for him to not be playing with other toys or being more interactive with me? (Can you tell he's my PFB )

I wouldn't worry about a 14 month old not being interested in books.

I usually just narrated whatever playtime my kids had at that age, I find it mind-numbingly boring to sit and play with blocks. Settle them into an activity, kind of putter about and chat with them, settle them into the next.

DS1 used to love watching the goings on in building sites. I was well-known to some of the digger and bulldozer drivers round here. Standing, freezing my arse off!

Another thing DS1 used to love doing when he was this age and older was going out in the dark to watch the streetlights come on.

We also used to go to the main road to watch the cars go by and the zebra crossing. DS1 learned the word Belisha Beacon at about 18 months. Geek-tastic
