To be stressing about DD's bday party!

I think I know I am & just looking for someone to talk sense into me!!....

Am 8 months pregnant & so thought it'd be nice for DD to have proper party this year before her new brother or sister arrives. She'll be 3 so previous years we've just done family tea at home. I had envisioned that family would be happy to avoid the toddler party & just come to house over weekend as in previous years. However, now in laws are coming to stay for the weekend so will be coming. My mum was going to help with teas/coffee etc for parents & preparing food so she'll be there. So, can't not invite my dad. My sister will be there with her partner as they have a kid who is invited.

We've hired a venue & have about 16 kids coming.

I guess I'm just worried that she'll be torn between friends & family. If she doesn't get to play with her friends we could have saved money & just done family tea!

Do people normally have family come to party? This is my first so don't know how it normally works!

Just ensure the adults all have a task to do ( sorting drinks/food, clearing up after pass the parcel etc) and are kept busy and the kids will all play together. It will be fine.

I have been to lots of parties at our village hall like this and the hosts have found the extra pairs of hands useful cos then they get to greet the kids coming to the party.

She'll charge about like a crazy thing having far too much fun to notice.

Grandparents will sigh dotingly from the sidelines and make comparisons with all the poor other children who just aren't quite as wonderful as your dd.

Someone will be sick and go home dressed in mummy's jumper. Someone else will have a tantrum because they didn't win pass the parcel.

You will swear off ever doing such a stupid thing ever again right up until this time next year when you ring to confirm the hall's availability...

I've been to various parties where some have had family there and some haven't.

As Pancake says, put them all to work and you might be really grateful they came.

I wouldn't worry about a 3yr old being torn.

It's her Birthday and her friends are going to be there...I doubt your family will see her for dust Grin

Purple that's sooo true! Grin

You forgot the avid family photographers though...snapping her every movement!

Thank you...I knew I was worrying over nothing! But it was really beginning to make me anxious. And the family tend to be very fussy over her & not give her minutes piece!! I'll get busy thinking of jobs for everyone instead of stressing!

Haha! Kids are a force not to be reckoned with when it's their Birthday and they have a hall full of friends Grin

I can guarantee you they won't be able to hog the birthday girl!

Hope it all goes well and you all have a great time Thanks

Oh yes, there's always an uncle with a professional looking camera crawling about getting "arty" action shots :o

And a childless Aunt worried about her outfit Hmm
