To think I have reasons to be tired

I've been told by my mum (and dh) that I should be going to the Dr because I'm tired. Now I agree a muktivitamin would be good but I don't see that a Dr is going to tell me anything other than get some rest. I have 2 dcs, 4 and 2 who I am at home with and Ivakso do around 20hrs a month freelance work at home. My mum has dd2 for a few hours once a week. Dd1 has had speech problems and has just started school, dd2 had a brain injury and has just started SLT and physio so I have a certain amount if anxiety around this and of course lots of appointments etc to go to in addition to the usual swimming and groups etc. dd2 had a wheezing episode last week so I was up in the night and off to the drs etc I then managed to get an upset stomach, faint and hit my nose; I bled quite a bit and I think surprisingly gave felt wobbly and tired so asked my mum to have dd2 while dd1 is ar school so I can go back to b ed; which she gas agreed to but wirh a you should go ti drs, you are always tired. AIBU to think that I have reason to be tire

Yes you certainly have many reasons to be tired! However a trip to the docs would do no harm, the fainting thing on an upset stomach is quite a strong reaction, she may take some blood and just check all your levels are where you should be eg: iron. It's easy enough to do so why not?

Rudolphstolemycarrots · 26/11/2012 18:29

can you take some floridix to up your iron levels?

MyLastDuchess · 26/11/2012 19:47

I agree, you have good reason to be tired! But carocaro is right, there could be something else going on. Seeing as you actually fainted it would be a good idea to have some tests.

McChristmasPants2012 · 26/11/2012 19:50

you could be anaemic, may be worth going to the doctors to get checked out.

Choufleur · 26/11/2012 19:50

get it checked out. you sound like you have lots of reasons to be tired.

Whoknowswhocares · 26/11/2012 20:01

You do have many reasons to be tired. However you have even more reasons to need a healthy amount of energy!
Go and get checked. It can do no harm and may even help

I have finally been to the docs, after ignoring my total exhaustion (and a few other symptoms) for several months. It turns out my iron, vitamin D and thyroid levels are low. All three are easily treated... I started supplements a fortnight ago, and already I'm feeling a bit better. :) So it's worth checking...

mercibucket · 26/11/2012 20:10

Glad you're getting all 3 sorted, flow4. Remember to keep getting GP to increase thyroxine til you feel well, not just til the bloods are 'normal'

Thanks merci. Actually, the GP didn't want to start me on thyroxine until my iron and vit D levels were sorted, since (apparently) the three deficiencies/insufficiencies can be inter-related... Confused So I have further blood tests in a fortnight and will be starting it then, unless my levels have normalised. But I don't want to high-jack this thread... If you have experience with all this, perhaps I could PM you?

mercibucket · 26/11/2012 21:10

Your GP sounds v well informed! Feel free to pm me :)
