A school run thread: WIBU to post this note through school neighbour's door?

'Offender' lives 4 doors away from school, tiny terraced road which is obv very busy at school run times.

"To the person who came out of this house at 8.50 last Thursday and drive away in a silver Polo.

You had parked blocking the pavement so that people with pushchairs/wheelchairs were forced to walk in the road around your car.

When you came out and drove away, without looking, my family were in the road, walking around your car.

You almost hit them: and adult, a 5 year old and a baby in a pushchair.

Please be more considerate."

DH thinks I should just leave it, even though it was him she nearly hit.

Just to clarify, I don't know if the driver lives in that house, but they came out of that house.

FFS, PREVIEW!

no idea what's best in this situation. i don't know where you'd even find a hitman.

SecretCervix · 25/11/2012 20:17

Do it, I would. As for the driving I would report them for driving without due care and attention.

SecretCervix · 25/11/2012 20:18

i don't know where you'd even find a hitman.

Um .. what?

AngryBeaver · 25/11/2012 20:20

I would post it too. Dh would tell me to leave it Smile Used to irk me no end last year when I had a double buggy and some tit had parked on the pavement, so that me dd (4) and double buggy had to go into the road amongst heavy traffic, buses etc. Pavements are for PEDESTRIANS . Pretty sure it's an offence to park on a pavement. The local policeman used to give tickets for it.

SophiesMummySaid · 25/11/2012 20:21

Welcome to my monologue :-)
Is worth reporting? What could be done now?
Equally confused by the hitman comment Confused

lovebunny A hitman seems extreme. I think a note would suffice

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 25/11/2012 20:23

Note under windscreen wiper?

designergirl · 25/11/2012 20:26

I agree, you should send a note

SophiesMummySaid · 25/11/2012 20:40

I know it must be annoying to live a few doors away from the school and have nowhere to park, but it doesn't mean it's ok to inconvenience scores of others by making them walk with their young children in the busy road, and it definately doesn't mean you can drive as if you are a twat the only road user.
IANBU am I?
Note will be sent and probably ignored, but I will feel better.

Does anyone know how to get school marking zigzags altered?
Have put a pic on my profile from google street view.
Where the black car is parked in that pic is the problem.
There are often cars parked here, in order not to block the road, they block the pavement.
If the zigzags could be extended just a bit further it would eliminate the problem, making the route to school safer for those with pushchairs.

given your post of 20:40:05 unless you do this to every car down the road that does this YABU

SophiesMummySaid · 25/11/2012 20:52

Not every car sets off without looking, almost hitting my family Boney
Many park there and force people to walk in the road.

germyrabbit · 25/11/2012 20:55

i would talk to headteacher before putting notes on cars, see what they suggest

BoneyBackJefferson · 25/11/2012 21:00

So its ok for other car ownes to "inconvenience scores of others by making them walk with their young children in the busy road" but not this one?

Take them all on or let it go.

I would post it.

I'd also contact your council - ours has a 'Safe Routes to School' team and yours may have an equivalent who can advise.

WorraLiberty · 25/11/2012 21:04

YABU

But when you walked round the car did you not check there was no-one in the driver seat?

If I saw someone, I'd wait until they reversed out tbh.

WorraLiberty · 25/11/2012 21:06

I meant YANBU etc...

SophiesMummySaid · 25/11/2012 21:07

No, it's not ok.
It's not as bad, though.
Did you read that she got in her car and set off without looking, almost hitting my family, who were only in the road because of her inconsiderate parking?
Choose your battles, and all that.
I would emotionally exhaust myself if I took on everyone who inconvenienced me, individually.
I may take them all on, in a more effective way, by seeing if the parking restrictions can be extended.

SophiesMummySaid · 25/11/2012 21:09

Thank you travel and welsh
Worra it was DH, he said she got into the car as they were passing it, started up and set off "like a shot" he reckons she wouldn't have even had time to fasten her seat belt.

BridgetBidet · 25/11/2012 22:32

Is this in Sheffield?

SophiesMummySaid · 25/11/2012 23:09

No, not worried it's you are you Bridget Grin

DeSelby · 25/11/2012 23:14

Were you there at the time?
I think if your DH was the one involved and says to leave it then you probably should.
