Paying for our own brown recycling(food cardboard) bags?

AIBU?

I don't think the householder should have to pay.

They cost a small fortune, 4-ish pounds for 5.

They are soon used up with a family of 5, it must be worse for larger families.

I think they should be provided by our council.

This week, nowhere in the area even stocked them so we had to use plastic.

Guess whose rubbish was left sulking in the bin? Grin

I'm serious though. They are not widely available and they are very, very expensive!

Gosh no way would I line my big bin unless the council provided the bags. Tis what the bloody bin is for. Granted they get a bit stinky after a while, but nothing a hose and disinfectant doesn't cure. Or people here pay for a bin wash once a month. Sounds like your neighbours don't like mess. Sorry, bins are for rubbish.

tidy in an area that boarders 3 counties ;-)

I'm going to try the 'chuck it in' approach for a bit...

Email your council. We've got plastic biodegradable ones for our food waste - ask them to switch.

We used to get them for free, now we have to pay. I was a bit Hmm at first but figured that I pay for bin bags so not different.

Tidy, you could be where we are. If it's a green, blue and brown collection, bollocks to lining your wheelie bin.

TidyDancer · 25/11/2012 22:25

Very possible we are all in the same area. :)

YABU it's not a fucking bottomless pit, you know. You don't expect the council to buy your pedal bin liners, or your black bin bags. It's your responsibility to recycle, including your food waste. It's up to all of us to reduce the amount that gets land-filled.

Feminine · 26/11/2012 07:05

Thanks for your perspective Fiend

When purchasing black/pedal bin liners I have a choice in how much $ I want to spend.

It is not the same with the type of brown paper bags I am referring to.

They are very difficult to get hold of, and expensive.

My purse is not a fucking bottomless pit either Wink
