Here are the ingredients for LaRiche Directions, a demi-permanent hair colour which coats the hair but doesn't penetrate the cuticle:
Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Distearoylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate (and)Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth ?20, Butylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, Citric Acid, Methylparaben. May contain: Basic Brown 17, Basic Brown 16, Basic Red 76, Basic Yellow 57, Acid Violet 43, Basic Green 4, Basic Red 46, Basic Orange 2, Basic Violet 4, Basic Violet 14, Basic Blue 7, Basic Blue 9, Basic Violet 2, H.C Yellow 4, H.C Yellow 2, H.C Orange 1, H.C Red 1, H.C Red 3, Acid Red 87, Acid Green 1.
Because I'm a bore, I'm aware that toxicity studies on the reds have shown worrying symptoms in rats which were force fed neat dye. None of them died or developed cancers, however. It's generally not advised to force-feed neat dye to one's children.
Some of you chemists might have a problem with the ingredients of Directions, in which case please share hunz :) To me they look like the ingredients of most shampoos, conditioners and moisturising lotions. You wouldn't eat them, mind.
about posting turgid detail on a fun thread, sorry! I was looking this stuff up earlier today, so felt compelled to share.
