Stop referring to my DH as 'hubby'.
Stop referring to my DD as 'bubs'.

Side note: Learn to put apostrophes and commas in the right place.

I'm with you on 'sleeps'. My mate has surprised me with a 'Three more sleeps!' outburst before and I remember looking at her in disdainful puzzlement as I said something like 'What? Oh, yes it's nearly the day you go to Australia.'

What's wrong with days? I suppose your child might not know if it was inclusive of the day you were saying it... but they'd learn, surely?!

My DH said as a joke the other day that DD was his 'little princess' - I think he was a bit scared by my deadly serious tone when I said 'Don't ever say that again. Not even as a joke.'

When ds was little I called him my wee sausage man, or sausage for short.
As for my dog, you don't want to hear me.
'Whos's a snuggle wuggle boogle boy' is my favourite.

I speak to my Dog in a French accent Confused

My DH says tummy, and I have to sit on my hands to keep them away from the kife drawer.

Tummy is better than belly exit

Belly makes me want nip the person saying it

I say passed away because I hate the word death and the word died. They sound aggressive to me. Plus they sound so final, passed seems to reflect my personal beliefs on death a little more. I believe people pass from one plane of existence onto another, IYSWIM...

I get that ldn I couldn't say that ds had died for about 3 years. In fact I wouldn't choose to say now. I say we lost him or he passed away. Grim.

Yep, hate most of the above with nom nom being particularly horrible.

I fluffy talk to my dogs yet I've never used it on my children.

I don't even do fluffy talk to the pets.

Dh laughed at me this morning because I said excuse me to the dog because she was in my way.

Don't like any death euphemisms. My Father died. he did not 'pass', or 'go to sleep'. He died.

Am I allowed to hate DD, DS, DH, DM etc ad nauseam, or is that going to get me kicked off MN?

I use awful fluffy talk with my husband, but we keep it to ourselves. Not for public consumption.

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin · 27/11/2012 12:09

mignonette I get you. I am not one normally for pussy footing around.

But those words ' he died ' were so alien to me that I just couldn't speak them.

I hope I didn't offend or upset you Everlong. That wasn't my intention and I haven't read the whole thread which I should have. Yes, it is hard to speak those words oneself, but I don't like to hear others using euphemisms to me as I kind of need that harshness of meaning to ram the truth home IYKWIM? Makes me sound a bit contrary, I know.... Smile

Report
EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin · 27/11/2012 12:19

Noooo you didn't offend me Smile tbh I agree with you. If you are brave enough to say the words then that's a good thing. I am a lot braver now, I can say them if I want too. I just hate them.
